Verizon iPhone 6 Signal Problem

I have an iPhone 6 64gb on Verizon Wireless. I have noticed a problem with my cell signal/reception. In an area where I have 5 bars in LTE, it will seemingly drop to 2 at random. Then, if I make a call, the bars will come back up to 5 after the call is complete. It will do this multiple times throughout the day. The other day I had 5 bars in LTE and tried to make a phone call. When I did, the phone dropped to 1 bar and I got multiple 'call failed' messages trying to complete the call. After I hung up, the bars would go back up to 5 in LTE. A couple of days ago, I had full bars in LTE but could not do anything with data. I had to shut my phone off and restart to get the data to work again. Is anyone else having this or a similar issue?

Unfortunately you are wrong. The video above was a test on T-Mobile and it is still horrible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKF1jLhdYBg

I do not believe this is an issue related to hardware. It may have to do with the method that Verizon is using to update the tower database on the 6. I have extended testing of the phone on tmobiles network with a SIM. The issue is only when on Verizon. Hardware works fine on other carriers.

HARDWARE vs SOFTWARE??

Hi Ricky86... Well I stated that I do not believe the issue is related to the hardware. I stand behind that belief based on the 3 iPhone 6 devices that I own. Two (2) are on T-Mobile and mine is on Verizon. I also have my iPhone 5S I may switch back to for testing purposes if this problem continues.

If this is a wide-spread hardware problem then by definition there is NO software solution, and replacement/re-design is the only option. The simple fact that the problems are different on different carriers (the video only addressed WiFi, which we haven't experienced on our two T-Mobile devices) suggests that it is a software problem. My understanding from researching this topic is that the hardware from one carrier to the next is identical for the iPhone 6, and 6-plus models. That is not true for the iPhone 5 and older models, they were different for CDMA and GSM networks.

A colleague has an AT&T iPhone 6 and they are not experiencing issues with LTE. They do however see slow WiFi speeds... which is a separate issue from what I am experiencing.

I believe there is going to be a SOFTWARE solution, so again, in my opinion, this is not a hardware problem that will require replacement.

OP- Update on my new replacement; verizon 64GB.

Bad news; LTE signal is actually weaker or the same 2-bars in most areas. And the replacement I got today wasn't in perfect condition, the SIM card tray was pushed in too hard by whoever installed it, so now you can see a noticeable divot where the tray meets the body and the seams no longer match up showing a "noticeable gap" when comparing phones side by side.

Anyway back to the matter at hand, I've tried troubleshooting this new replacement too and nothing has worked, if anything it's worse when it comes to finding a decent LTE or wifi signal (other verizon iPhones 5's & galaxy s5's in the same NYC area are showing strong signals or much faster speeds, so there's an issue).

I've decided that returning the iPhone 6 may be the best option for me. I'm going to call up verizon tomorrow and try to return this phone. I probably won't ever purchase an iPhone direct from verizon again because of their ridiculous $35 restocking fee on all returned devices. Returning any item in New/Original condition shouldn't warrant a fee of any kind. I'll update you guys again on what happens. I just want this to return this and purchase a 5s directly from apple instead (less hassle, no fees).

Thanks for your update, but sorry for the bad news. I am getting a little discouraged with the news that some of the replacements are having the same issues. The only bright side is that maybe it is a software issue. The problem with that is how long will we have to wait to find this out. And, we can't wait too long or we won't be able to get a different phone. It's a shame because I love everything about this phone, I only wish it worked like my iPhone 5.

same here I had believe the software update took care of this but its till a problem,, my phone is space gray 128g and my biggest problem is dialing out calls and not receiving calls, but I also see LTE signal jump to 3G and 1x on the same place with open satellite reach,, I start to wonder if this maybe be something with higher memory phone or color difference because my wife has the gold 16g with no issues by the way my carrier is also verizon and I'm in LA area bad signal where my iphone 5 worked great I'm out of luck because I trade it in so I guess now I have to way for a fix, these are my 2 cents to the subjec,

well after speaking with Verizon cust service once again last night and being told that a possible resolution would not be forthcoming for another 5 to 7 days, I have decided to send the phone back while I still can do so without penalty (other than verizon's disgraceful $35 restocking fee). truly a shame and totally unexpected but such is life. good luck to everyone!

Hey everyone, googled "iphone 6 connecting issues" and found this thread...

I have a 16gb 6 w/ verizon and having data issues w/ LTE and wifi. Havent experienced dropped calls because I don't talk on the phone much. Had my phone since Monday and just started noticing the issue this morning. I woke up this morning and couldnt check traffic on WiFi or LTE. Reset my phone and everything started loading and was getting data. Later on at work, it started happening again. 2 bars LTE or WiFi and nothing connects/loads. Hope this is a software issue because I really dont want to go into Apple. Might give them a call though.

My issue may be a bit different... Is anyone else having this with 8.0.2 iphone 6? My connection to the internet on WiFi, LTE, or 3G just stops. Can't load apple.com or get any email once it happens. If I Toggle into Airplane Mode and back, no change. Still no connection. Restarting the device (power-cycle) fixes the issue for a while.

I am going to roll-back to iOS 8.0.0 to see if that helps. http://readwrite.com/2014/09/24/revert-ios801-roll-back-restore-iphone Will post an update:

The issue with the exertremly poor reception on my verizon iPhone 6 never improved. Like I said before, consistently 1 to 2 bars in locations where others typically had all bars. I ended up just returning my iPhone 6 and canceling my Verizon service because I was still in the 14 day window. I'm back with my iPhone 5 on att and it works great as usual. I may just wait and see if apple ever recognizes and resolves this issue and then I might consider the iPhone 6 again. I've got to learn not to immediately get these phones right when they are released. I've done that now with the iPhone 4, 5, and now 6 and have had issues every single time.
