Calendar & IOS 8 update time zone issue

since the update, my iPad is showing all of my appointments as GMT, not PST as they were set. I alter them individually and it returns to GMT. In "settings" under calendars, the "Time Zone Override" is not selected. I'm only in Pacific Standard time, though it keeps picking GMT. II've envelope turned it on and selected Cupertino, still no change. All the dates were created in PST.

I have had this issue on my iphone 6 IOS 8.1.1. I believe I fixed the issue or have worked around it. First I went to settings->general->Date & Time. I turned off "set automatically" because it kept defaulting to Cupertino (wherever that is) and I changed it to a city near me. Then while in my calendar and creating a new event, I noticed that when you are setting the time of the event, you can select the time zone you would like. For some reason, this also was defaulted to cupertino. After changing this to a local area on one event, it automatically defaulted to my new timezone on the next new event. The time is appearing correctly in my calendar, however, if I go to edit the event it shows GMT. But for now, at least it is showing up correctly in my calendar and not at 1:30am or some other ridiculous time. This stuff makes me miss my android, I have had nothing but problems with the calendar for iphone, and I had the opposite experience with android. Hopefully this helps someone.

I am having the same issue. I just upgraded to an iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.1.2. My calendar is displaying all my events correctly at the right time (central standard time in Dallas) but every time I create a new event it shows written inside the event -

Event Title

Time in GMT (which is 6 hours later than central standard time)

Location

So annoying because of course my natural inclination is to read the time that is written on the event rather than looking to the left hand side to see where it falls.

Please fix this, Apple!

I recently upgraded to and iPhone 6 Plus as well, and am running iOS 8.1.1. I'm in the same timezone as emielisch, and having the same issue and inclination. Given that emielisch is running 8.1.2 I can see that updating the iOS doesn't include a fix for this.

This issue only occurs on entries that I'm adding to my gmail calendars...I really wish that Apple and Google would just learn how to play nicely together. This issue does not occur when making entries into Apple calendars or even my Exchange calendar. Further, I did not encounter this issue when running iOS 8.1.1 on my iPhone 5S, which makes the 6 Plus a downgrade in this respect.

What I find particularly aggravating about this is three things...
1. The time zone selected is clearly marked as central when the initial entry into the calendar is made. It is upon saving the entry the GMT time is displayed in the text detail of the day's appointments, while the proper central time assignment is maintained along the left side timeline. That I could deal with, even though it does tire my eyes, and I chose a 6 Plus because I knew the small screen of the 5S was straining them.

2. Upon opening on the appointment entry to view additional details, both the proper central time and secondary GMT notation are displayed. This is can also be dealt with, as I have trained myself to disregard the redundant GMT notation, although I'd rather expend that brain power on more important concerns.

3. When I tap edit the time is only displayed in GMT. When I change the time zone BACK to central time the time does not adjust and remains at GMT. This is extremely cumbersome and disappointing. This thread dates back to Sept. 24th, and I do not find it at all encouraging that Apple has not made a fix to this issue yet.

I think I found a fix for the time zone issue -- am in EST zone and all my calendar appts. kept going to GMT when added, though text was still correct. It's a "do around" but its been working.

Each time you begin a new "page" for a day, when setting time for first entry, be sure to go to "time zone" just below. Even though it may show your current time zone it still has to be "set" so click on it and reset on next page. So far, once the time zone has been reset for that page/day, other entries after the original will carry the correct zone. Double check though -- this is a new find.

My time zone is EST, not Cupertino. Highly annoying. I had the same issue.

I have my time zone (in the Settings, General, Date & Time area) set to New York, but my calendar went to Cupertino with the last OS upgrade. To fix this, I did the following:

1. Go to SETTINGS

2. Scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendar (it's one item, not 3 separate items). Open it.

3. Scroll down to the Calendars section & select Time Zone Override. Open it & switch it to on. You should now see your default Time Zone, which mine is New York.

Your Calendar default should now be set to your new Time Zone.

4. Go to your calendar, pick an event & edit it.

5. Select the Start time & look at the Time Zone. Mine was still set to Cupertino.

6. Select the Time Zone.

7. In the entry box, type your new time zone. I typed New York.

After I saved the event, all of my other events, including recurring events, were now all set to New York, U.S.A. When I went back in & turned the Time zone override off, my calendar stayed as New York. When off, it's supposed to automatically default to your current location time zone. Why the OS upgrade changed everything to Cupertino is beyond me since I'm not located there & never had been.

There may be another way but this worked for me. I don't change time zones so I have no use for Cupertino.

I hope this helps.

Same. No matter how many time zone toggles under Settings and General or Calander...no matter how many syncs, power off and on, etc., the GMT issue will not resolve in iPhone 6 with ios 8.1.2.

Every single time I create a calendar entry - and even before I close the new calendar item, I open the time zone within the entry itself and select my time zone manually - I am still forced to go back in to the calendar entry and change the time zone after I close it.

So I have to edit each calendar entry, essentially creating it twice.

Any other ideas?
