finder problems in 10.9.5

I had the same exact issue 10.9.5. pausing Google Drive solved it instantly.

Same problem here with a few more twists. Either way Finder was essentially not functional. I shut down Google Drive and all was well without a restart.

Thank you! I've tried many solutions suggested in various threads about Finder problems in 10.9.5, but this is the only one that worked for me. I disconnected Google Drive so that it doesn't launch at startup, and all is well. Whew.

We were able to simply solve our problems by unchecking the "Show file sync status icons and right click menu" in the GD preferences, and rebooting. We can still access the GD just fine. It's essential for me.

I had this problem just arise in the past 2 weeks. The only solution is temporary, and its to relaunch finder. The finder window displays whatever is underneath and doesn't show the files at all. Unless I relaunch finder in which case it seems to work until I try to change directories or the display.

If you use Google drive either quit the app and delete if from your system, or unset the preference as described here

Unset of the preference is only a temporary fix until Google hopefully fixes this ...

Unsetting that preference may be temporary, but so far we've had no problems with it. I'm afraid if Google "fixes" it - another problem will arise...sigh...

Yes, I had this exact problem too. OSX 10.9.5. I removed Dropbox and Google Drive from startup. The results have been good so far. We'll see...

omg, thank you! I turned both of those items off, and I've lasted longer in finder than I have in weeks with no relaunch!!

I had the same problem and also had installed google drive.

The problem disappears when I quit google drive, instantly, without the need to restart.

I'll keep checking and repost if anything changes.
