I have the same question. I upgraded to IOS 8 last night and I have an iPad 2 3G (no gsm) with ATT and now it says "No Service" in the upper left hand corner and when I check the general settings > about, it says "Network Not Available" and "Cellular Data Number Unknown."

Same here.

Tried the following solutions

- reset device, this works only temporarily

- reset network settings, this requires a reboot, so see above

- do a factory reset, this also requires a reboot, but works only temporarily

- replace SIM card

- disabled iCloud 3g sync as explained in previous posts, does not work

- disabled FaceTime cellular cals, no solution

- to 8.02, this reboots the device, only a temporarily solution

I have the same problem on my iPad 2 since installing this terrible update to 8.0.2: my iPad loses 3G service without warning and the only way to get it back is to restart the iPad. The network is German Telekom and I called my provider, Mobilcom and went through all settings with them on the phone with no remedy for the problem. They say th whole thing is an Apple OS problem. Obviously, as my iPad has worked perfectly since I bought it 2 years ago.

I tried all the fixes posted here with no luck.

Apple! help!!! this is crap!

IIn os 8 while on wffi you can use the iPad to make phone calls and answer them too.i think is what is happening is os 8 is overriding the 3G and making the connection through the iPhone and disabling the 3G part of the iPad .when you are out of your wifi the 3G will work but when you get back to your own wifi or connected to a wifi is when it happens

I also have severe problems with my iPad 2's cellular data after the iOS 8 update. iOS 8.0.2 did very little to improve the situation. There is only a temporary fix: restarting my ipad. That works for a while, though, as after a short period of time I lose Internet reception again. I talked with my provider--T-mobile--and the problem is on Apple's side obviously. I hope they fix the issue soon or at least allow me to downgrade to iOS 7.

Folks, it appears that this issue is pretty wide spread. Similar to the issue with VPN on IOS 7 in that it took Apple months to resolve it without ever admitting they had a problem. So disappointing from a company that think they are innovators in technology. They would probably do well in the used car industry.

Right now all they are doing is managing to annoy and alienate their loyal customers. By being silent on the issue we don't know if they are working on a solution!!

A very disgruntled Apple user.
