How to stop automatic redirect to yahoo in safari?

I recently downloaded firefox to try something specific, then deleted it as I prefer safari. Since then when I try to search in the address bar it automatically redirects me to yahoo, rather than google. I have set google as my default search engine. Do you know how I can stop being redirected to yahoo?

I found the culprit! Mine was a program called "AnySearch". I found it in Preferences>>>Extensions. There was a check box checked next to it. So I unchecked it and it worked! Then for extra measure I clicked on the "Uninstall" button right underneath it. Hope this helps.

Like a Charm! This was a stressful dark and gloomy cloud with no indication of light shining through. All other forums I combed through had no real solution. The second solution suggested solved the problem. I then went back to finder and deleted

~/library/preferences/com.apple.safari.plist as well as ~/library/preferences/com.apple.safari.extensions.plist

Back to blue skies. Thank you.
