RAW picture previews loading extremely slow since IOS 8 using the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit

Hi all

First, sorry for my poor english, I hope you understand my problem.

Device is iPad Air Wi-Fi with IOS 8.

I just realized this issue yesterday. I wanted to import some of my RAW pictures from my Nikon camera's SD card, using the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit. In the Photos app / Import tab, the RAW picture previews show extremely slow. It takes a second to show each photo preview before import. A second for every single picture preview 😟

For example, if you have 500 pictures on your SD card, and you want to import pictures from this card but just some selected, then you need to wait for an overview preview a lot of minutes. On IOS 7 this process was maybe 10 seconds for all of the pictures...

My comment what I wrote yesterday, was deleted/moderated twice. Because of what? Because I write the truth? Moderating my comment not solves my problem! iOS 8.1.3 also didn't solve my problem.

Is there any way to downgrade to IOS 7? Or is there any way to solve this issue? 😟

Downgrading iOS is never supported. I regret going from 7.1.2 to 8.1.2 too. Although I don't use it the same way as you, iOS 8 has broken a few things on my iPad Air. Photo viewing is now lagging (1 to 2 seconds) on every swipe (photo shows up half way and freezes then continues or it just doesn't move on to the next photo for 1-2 seconds). App update/installation hangs if I forgot to sign in to iTunes Store. Those are just 2 problems that I've found. Not sure what other problems there are until I come across them.

We can complain about Apple's business decisions, but these discussions are user to user talk about possible solutions.

Here are the places to report bugs:

Get an account at

http://developer.apple.com/ then submit a bug report to http://bugreporter.apple.com/

Once on the bugreporter page,

-- click on New icon

-- See if you need to attach a log file or log files, clicking on Show instructions for gathering logs. Scroll down to find the area or application that matches the problem.

-- etc.

Import the photo a different way.

Solutions:

1) Use the i-FlashDrive. You use an app to access what is attached to the adapter.

2) Wifi version of a memory card.

the Problem still applies with iOS 9 and even 9.1pb. 😟

My iPad Air 2 128GiB running iOS 9.0.2 and using original lightning SD Adapter is about 10 to 20 times slower when importing JPEG+RAW than my four year old iPad 2 32GB importing only JPEG.

Which makes the whole thing useless to check and edit your pictures on the go with an iPad.
