Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

So you're saying we have to reconfigure our routers so we can simply use our iPhones on wifi?

I Would like to give my recent update. All my apple devices including MBPR and iPhone 6 are now stable connected to my 5Ghz router on a 40Mhz bandwidth at full speed. As I mentioned about draft wireless in a previous post they are not finalized. apparently Even after updating my wifi routers the updates were not taking completely and some updates included new updated draft drivers for the wifi radios.

So with one a simple reset to defaults fixed the issue. The other one required what's called a 30/30/30 reset. You can Google this for more information.

After fixing the routers and having the wireless card replaced in the MBPR everything has been stable and working great. I was able to change my bandwidth to auto 20/40 and the laptop connects on 40, or specify 40 only and it works. The iPhone 6 is now fast, contact and not dropping.

So in my opinion if the iPhone 6 is using the most updated latest wifi chip drivers but my routers were not because the firmware update didn't aply it correctly and needed a reset. Well I beleive this may have been the issue. Maybe the router companies assumed he firmware update applied the new drivers but in reality the router needed a reset to apply these changes and not just a restart. So now I'm not forced to use my own recommend work around of being on 20MHz bandwidth and all is working.

So if my prevoiuse work arrounfd didn't work for you then you can try this one that corrected all my ios wifi issues. And also since my last post my girlfriend from California has moved in and also with 2 additional iOS devices on my network. Another phone and an iPad Air both on 8.1 and she streams a lot of TV and Movies and has not had an issue.

NOTE: the defaults or 30/30/30 will require you to out all the wifi setting back, reset the default password and add wifi keys. So you will want to make a note of all your setting and you will also want to know your default passwords that can be found in the online manuals for your wifi router.

I tried the escrge 1843 method (iPad Air 2 WiFi Connectivity Issues: RESOLVED) last night and it definitely made things a lot more stable but speed was affected. My usual Speedtest app gives me 50 Mbs Down but after setting the networks to 5ghz - A only and 2.4ghz to B/G the maximum I was able to achieve was 25 Down.

Even after sleep and wake for several hours two out of three devices (IPad Air 2 and 5S) remained connected but unfortunately my iPhone 6 Plus which was behaving better on the previous 5ghz setting lost connection this morning and I had to toggle Wi-Fi on/ off.

So in summary this method is the best temporary fix to date (especially for Linksys/Cisco routers) albeit not perfect for all IOS devices in the same household.

I'm definitely going to buy the new ASUS AC68 router which I think will solve the problem as I'm hearing good reports from numerous sources!

All this to make what worked perfectly before now limp along on the latest IOS.

Still no official statement from Apple acknowledging there's an issue.

Logging your issue with Apple still gets you their standard "That's the first time we've heard of this Wifi issue, have you tried restoring the phone as new?........." Response, although we all know that many have logged this issue formally.

So here I am, with a fully working iPhone 6 running on IOS8.0.2 not wanting to update to IOS8.1 for the fear of the return of the wifi issue.

Unbelievable that this issue persists in 8.1; color me disgusted.

I am sorry to say that the iphone 6 will be my last iphone. It's actually the third one I have used since release. The first two were totally defective. I am on ios 8.1 and the wifi issue is NOT fixed at all. Also, since 8.1, my phone will no longer roam consistently. If it weren't for having wifi at work, I wouldn't be able to stream music at all. I am so saddened and disappointed. I never expected this from apple at all. I also have an ipod at home and an ipad air on ios 7, and I won't be updating those two devices ever again. Why can't apple get this right?

UPDATE: on the wifi status of my iPhone 6 (my post was on Pages 30-31).

I have performed one final master reset on my router, and there seems to be no more wifi dropping issues. Surprisingly, it was my router all along and not the iPhone. Initially, I went into talk to the person at the Genius Bar and they were very certain it was either my router not being able to handle an extra node and/or the extra load when streaming media. So, I went home and gave it one final shot, and it worked. My iPhone doesn't drop the wifi anymore 🙂

1. We shouldn't have to reset our routers.

2. I don't know how to reset my router, and I did look into it.

3. When I called my ISP, they said I would have to PAY for a tech to come to my home and change any settings.

There has to be another way.

One last update, although the router reset and wifi settings tweaking did fix the speed and wifi drop issue on my iPhone 6.

I did notice one more issue that may help some of you. Here's the scenario, sitting in my car, car in the driveway, Wi-Fi fast and stable. Car stereo connect to phone with blutooth and suddenly wifi craws to a halt. So slow it's Basicaly useless To load GPS maps for destination or stream music. I turn off the blutooth and everything returns to normal. I repeated this test 3 times to confirm I wasn't going crazy. Then I remebered the Broadcom chip most iPhones run both the wifi and blutooth.

So the question is for those only reporting slow wifi......are you also connected to a blutooth speaker, headset or keyboard at the same time? If so the. Try turning off your blutooth or disconnecting your connected Bluetooth device and test the wifi again.

To me it looks like their still may be a slight driver issue with my iPhone 6 when running BT and WiFi at the same time. I'm going to test with my BT soeaker also and then try my iPad mini connected to the car and see if this is just with my iPhone 6, or ios 8.1 to narrow this down Since the iPad mini runs a different Broadcom BT/WiFi chip than the iPhone 6.

I'll report back with my findings.

iPhone 5S and ios 8.1. Lately I have been keeping eye on the wifi/3G indicator so much, that I even freak out when I see the 3G indicator outside in the streets. Not cool at all.

This is a great community and its fantastic how everyone is trying to help those struggling but ask yourselves, shouldnt this help be coming from somewhere else?, the likes of the manufacturers?.

Why are we pulling our rocks off trying different things to make something to simply work how it's advertised.

Let's not forget, these devises aren't cheap to purchase or own.

Why should we have to change settings?

Why should we have to turn this on and that off for something to work?

and here's the clincher.......

Why the f@#k are people people putting up with this cr4p?

Why the f@#k have we not heard anything from Apple about this issue and a reasurance that they are working on a fix?

I agree and with all the problems many are having over this. Why is there no mention in the news and other media? You would think there would be some kind of coverage. Perhaps there is some coverage in the newspaper somewhere but I've seen nothing about it.

Today again I compared Iphone 5S & Sam***g Ga**x* S3 and in S3 live video streaming worked perfectly and In iphone 5S it stuck after 15 Seconds. I was using same wifi at the same time. Apple please fix it before people start thinking to get rid of you guyz.

Folks. I tried everything suggested by other forks (May be Apple Agent) Nothing ifxed for me. Apple please solve WIFI Slow connectivity problem.
