Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

My iPhone 6 is still randomly disconnecting from my home WiFi, even after the latest OS update. My spouse also has an iPhone 6 and has experienced no issues with WiFi connectivity. When I spoke with Apple earlier in the week, I was told that they were aware of this issue with iOS 8 and would be working on a solution that should be released in 24 hours. I have a $700+ phone that doesn't stay connected to WiFi. Ridiculous. Apple really needs to get it together. This is the worst OS release yet.

Update: disabled location service, icloud backup and anything that i can disable except leaving wifi on , unfortunately that Didn't solve any of the wifi issue. Wanted to roll back to 7 but i didnt have the latest backup because i updated my ios on the air. Need Apple to address this issue right away. Resetting phone or using airplane mode on and off is the only way to get it working but the problem will come back after a while

For me it looks like the update has introduced a new problem. At some point my iPhone 6 has lost the internet connetivity. No apps were able to connect anywhere yet WiFi signal was strong and the connection information did appear ok. Disabling-enabling WiFi caused the device to reconnect, everything started working again right after it, I have got a bunch of emails etc.

Before (with iOS 8.0.0) I had problem with reconnecting to home wifi network after leaving the office one. It was either taking very long (more than 5 minutes) to automatically connect or it was not able to connect at all. But that time only restarting the phone could help.

Hey guys... there's no way this is a router issue. This is plain and simple a problem with the software and/or iPhone 6 hardware or a combination. If the phone all of a sudden can't find any networks while every other device in your house are connected and seeing them just fine, it isn't a router issue!

Also, my speeds when the phone is connected are totally fine. It's just that from time to time the phone just can't find any networks.

hi,

i own an iphone 5s and an ipad mini retina. since i travel a lot, i frequently run into connectivity problems on wifi networks in hotels.

- the iphone has way more problems than the ipad due to its shorter antenna. this also may be the case with the 6 compared to other devices in the house.

- many problems occur when different networks operating on the same wifi channel (which unfortunately quite often is the case nowadays). check channels with some software tool (like istumbler), switch channels on your router if possible. this is very much an apple issue, also on my macbook pro. windows laptops connect better in this situation of interfering networks. in such a scenario, strength of signal very much decides on connecting or not: what works in one room may not work in the adjacent room on similar devices.

this being said, there still may be an issue with the iphone 6. but maybe some people may find this helpful, too.

  • I have an iPhone 5C.
  • iOS 8.0 disabled my Wi-Fi. Actually not just disabled, it made my phone behave as it did not have W-Fi. I could not re-enable it.

Restarting my phone or resetting network settings made me no difference.

Solution:

  1. Power down iPhone for a few minutes
  2. Power-up and Wi-Fi is back again!

After updating to the latest iOS 8.0.2 it disabled my Wi-Fi again. Following the power-down procedure above fixed it.
