Why won't health app sync?
WWith the new update, is there something I need to do to connect apps to the health app? i use several fitness apps, and none of them seem to "request" access.
iPhone 5, iOS 8

My contact app doesn't show as asking pre-mission and I can't sync the two apps.
I can see the connects app is installed but nothing more
This topic is about the Health app, not Contacts.

Yes and as I stated my garmin connect app won't synced with the apple health app.
Your post was vague.
You wrote, "My contact app doesn't show”. Contacts does not use Health app.
You never mentioned Garmin.
However...
Looks like Garmin Connect is pretty flaky.

I have had this problem and found out that Health does not really support my Edge data from earlier posts. I have found a work around by using the app "BikeSmart" which will sync with Garmin and then also sync with Health, so the info goes from Garmin to BikeSmart to Health. Seems to take care of my Edge 305 and 705 cycling data.
Talk to the app developers and ask them if and when their apps will be updated to integrate with the Health app.
Many of them already have.
Then ask them how it's supposed to work.
We did ask Garmin. They said any functionality issues are Apple's. Essentially Garmin said "don't bother us."

Garmin Connect has been updated to work with Health. It writes Active Calories, Steps and Walking + Running Distance to Health. It's working fine for me. Have you updated the app?
Yep. Build 2.6.0.5. Garmin claims it works with Heath, but it doesn't request access to it. All the data is in the Garmin Connect app (I have 6 years of cycling data), but it won't populate the Health app, nor ask for permission to use it. Garmin clearly says this is an Apple problem.
Have you updated to iOS 8.0.2? That update is required to connect 3rd party apps to Health.
Cycling data doesn't seem to be one of the types of data GC writes to Health. Currently, it appears to be Active Calories, Steps and Walking + Running Distance. It works for those.
Yes, 8.0.2. And Yes, it appears GC simply doesn't work. Thanks. But it doesn't even ask for access to the Health app, so it populates no data at all for me.
Garmin says it is Apple's problem. I think this indicates they don't plan to fix it.
And here's Garmin's official response (complete with the bad grammar and punctuation):
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Garmin International.
In order to answer your questions about Health Kit and it's features please contact Apple.

As I noted, nothing seems to be broken. GC works fine with my Health app. Cycling data, however, is not something that syncs. If Active Calories, Steps or Walking+Running Distance are not syncing for you, try deleting and reinstalling the app.
I reinstalled GC a few times with no success. And I've added one other app that seems to work fine. By definition, if cycling data is not syncing, the app is broken. The GC app is not requesting access to Health. To reiterate as I noted, GC has point blank told its user community that the Apple Health app is the culprit. Whether anyone at Apple wishes to refute that isn't exactly clear.
Personally, I'm pretty sure the GC app is what is broken.

No, it's not. Cycling data is not one of the options that Garmin is pushing to Health. Apps that sync with Healthkit don't necessarily sync everything. And, as I understand it, the app developer gets to chose what.
If your GC app isn't asking you permission to sync with with Health, that's another matter. Mine is working fine.
Why won't health app sync?
