Why won't health app sync?

WWith the new update, is there something I need to do to connect apps to the health app? i use several fitness apps, and none of them seem to "request" access.

Thank you, this has been driving me nuts for a while, and the solution above worked fine. Enabled everything for starve in health book, then scrolled through my (year and a half) of my feed in Strava and it populated health book.

Not quite sure what I'm going to do with that data there as opposed to just Strava, but maybe in the future if I combine with a lot more health data or something...

Thanks again.

Admittedly, I didn't read every post in this thread, but I didn't see this mentioned. I think it's why it's "not working" for me.

"You will only be prompted to turn on the feature if you have a wellness device registered to your account. Current wellness devices are the vivofit, vivosmart, or Forerunner 920XT."

Mitch, to whom you replied, didn't mention Garmiin. If you're saying that the only devices that work with Health are the ones you've mentioned, you're incorrect. While they may be the only Garmin devices that connect directly with Health, there are also others that do as well, including ones by Jawbone, Withings and several others.

Yes, I am aware of that. It changes nothing about what I said.

I did what dbs suggested.

Enabled sync of cycling and workouts and then scrolled through my Strava feed. The result is mixed:

  • Workouts populated nicely bar some dupes so I could see the time of my rides.
  • Cycling distance is a disaster. Lots of missing entries and dupes. Worse still is after going into each ride in Strava which gets missing entries into Health a couple of days later they had disappeared.

It should not be this hard or unrealiable which frankly makes the Health App a waste of time.

  • Apple should expose a simple api for posting data.
  • Strava sends on save and could provide a resend all function rather than when you scroll through which is possibly the dupe producing culprit as let's face it you do look back through your rides.
  • Apple use the UID that strava publishes to ignore dupes which would fix any issue of Strava resending.

I Think that i found the bug in the health app

when you cycle, not very fast iphone thinks that you are walking/running as duch it records the activity under walking/running

even that the distance is not accurate

when Strava tries to updat the data it the update is denied due to the fact the health app already has data qt the same time/date

apple should allow Strave to override the data

Strange, but it worked for me. Just opened app, then scrolled through the "feed" of my own past activities. Filled in my complete cycling mileage history (among other fields). Hopefully won't have to do the every single time to force a "syncing" between Strava and Health. Thanks for the tip - never would have thought of that one!
