ios 8 Push Email Delays

Since ios 8 release (including on 8.0.2), a number of users within our organization have noticed delays in Push email being delivered to the mail application for activesync (exchange) mail connections.

This hasn't ever been noticed on ios 7, but consistently since 8.0 and 8.0.2 were released.

Anyone else seeing this issue? I have verified it is still setup as PUSH for that profile. We use Maas360 as an MDM tool also but changes there.

*** FOR GOOGLE APPS USERS ONLY ***

I got my iPhone 6 Plus December 2014. I connected my google apps account through the exchange option on the iPhone’s native email app as instructed by both apple and google. Everything synced fine and my email pushed perfectly. A few days ago my email stopped pushing. I tried all of the suggestions from turning off notifications and turning it back on, deleting the account and adding it again both before and after I reset the network settings. Nothing worked. The only way I could get email was to open the email app. When I did, it would fetch the email.

Yesterday I called google apps support and below is their summary email to me of our discussion:

The investigation I did about your issue showed that iOS 8 Exchange Email no longer Pushes. iOS 8 is not supported by the Google Apps Team. Changing to fetch seems like the best option. I'm pretty sure Apple already knows about this issue and hopefully will solve it as soon as possible.

So, there’s your answer for google apps users. Below is the solution I have applied:

In my search for a solution I found a google support page here https://support.google.com/a/answer/6088059?hl=en titled “Set up IOS Sync for Google Apps.” It explains that you have to install and set up an Apple Push Certificate, enable IOS Sync for users and Enforce policies on IOS devices in the admin section of your Google Apps account.

Setting up the Apple Push Certificate is explained by google support here https://support.google.com/a/answer/6080359 title “Apple Push Certificate Setup Flow.” It’s not complicated, but is involved. You create an Apple Push Certificate from within the Google Apps Admin console, download a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) from Google and then upload it to the Apple Push Certificate portal located on Apple’s website with you Apple ID. Apple then signs the CSR and issues you an Apple Push Notification (APN) certificate which you have to then upload in your Google Apps Admin console. After all this is done, you have to go to your iPhone, download the Gmail App and sign in with your Google Apps account. Your iPhone will then prompt you to install a “security profile” after which it will say “profile installed.”

Push has now resumed on my iPhone 6 Plus.

Same, I'm still experiencing this delay in message fetching. Just opened my phone (iPhone 6s), got the noticed "last updated...." which was over 60 minutes ago. My settings are set to fetch every 15 minutes. Consistently not fetching for 30 minutes to well over an hour and more. Happens both on and off WiFi, on LTE/4G, at home and work, around town and out of town. Even when I was overseas and on WiFi or on my international plan.

Same issue on my previous phone (iPhone 5....the original from 2012), was hoping the brand new "Best iPhone Ever" would alleviate this issue.
