Keyboard shortcuts still missing after ios 8.2

I am also having exactly the same problem like you! I am on an iPad Mini though, but also with iOS 8.0.2.

it is clearly a bug. I also do not back up to iCloud, but only to my Mac. But I also do not back up to iCloud my iPhone 4 (iOS 7.1.2) and my iPod Touch 4 (iOS 6.1.6), yet my iPhone and my iPod shortcuts work like clockwork. I never had any problem with either! When I add a shortcut to one device, it immediately shows up on the other. Occasionally, shortcuts appear on iPad, but when it is not working on a mail or message I notice the shortcuts have disappeared from Keyboard's Settings.

Just for the sake of being a different iOS, I did a back up of everything on my iPad, including documents and data, to iCloud. I figured it would fix the issue, but it did not.

When I turn iCloud off and then back on, shortcut seems to reappear, but it is not a sure thing. Some times it does not reappear right away.

My suggestion is:

Send feedback to www.apple.com/feedback/iphone

or ipad, if it is what you are using (or google apple feedback for your issue)

Perhaps if enough people do report this problem, Apple may take action sooner than not.

I am not sure if there is any correlation, but I like using the split keyboard while I just noticed the following:

Although my keyboards Shortcuts are not displayed under Settings, when the Keyboard is joined, the shortcuts are displayed right above the keys, even showing alternative spellings, while the shortcuts will function even in bi-lingual usage (i.e. My iPad is set to English, but I use a foreign language daily--in this case where the keyboard is joined, the shortcuts displayed above the keys are in both languages). Again, if I split the Keyboard, the alternative spellings shortcuts are not displayed, and shortcuts (as they should be displayed under Settings>General>Keyboard) do not work.

It might be the OS. I'm using 8.0.2 and am not connected to the cloud. My shortcuts have disappeared and returned on three different occasions and I've tried the various fixes suggested here without success. Later they will just start working again and when I check the shortcuts list, they are all there. I thought it was a hardware issue until checking this thread.

Turning on "Passbook" in Settings/iCloud (which tuns on "Documents & Data") and turning off "Predictive" in Settings/General/Keyboard brought my shortcuts back on iOS8 with iPhone 6.

FYI- i turned Predictive back on and they seem to stay. We'll see how long.

Please try the following:

1. Go to SETTINGS

2. Go to GENERAL

3. Go to KEYBOARD

4. Go to SHORTCUTS

5. Touch the + on the top right of screen

6. Add a new phrase in PHRASE - I personally like to add my email address

7. Add a shortcut in SHORTCUT- I added a letter and an @ sign (k@)

By adding a new shortcut, it resets the default settings. It worked for me, and hopefully it will work for you.

I have had to do this for years (every time that there's a new iOS), so I find it incredibly difficult to believe that Apple are unaware of this same recurring problem. I honestly think they don't care. Although I love my iPhone's and iPad, I am seriously considering withdrawing my loyalty on my next purchase due to their sloppiness.

Thank you for another suggestion. I have tried yours and all others mentioned on my Mini, and still no luck. After entering one as you suggest, are you doing a hard reboot or anything else to help force the restoration of all others?

I do not have any shortcuts at my phone. after i delete all of them on my ipad, i can not ad new ones. the screen with the shortcuts is still empty. i can ad a new one, but this one will not show up.

My laptop is on the most current version of Yosemite and my iPhone is iOS 8.3. My iPad is on 8.1.2. All of my shortcuts are synced to and work with my iPad. Does this mean I have to update my iPad in order for my shortcuts to work/show up on my phone?

I can’t even find the ‘Documents & Data’ toggle switch anymore. I was moved to iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage.

I found a filed called ‘Paragraph Shorts’ and I thought maybe if I deleted it and synced the phone again it might but the complete (and correct text shortcuts) on the phone. However, when I click ‘Delete All’ nothing appears to happen. But when I clicked back to Manage Storage it was gone. I synced the phone and again, none of the shortcuts from my laptop are listed on the phone.

Turning iCloud Drive off and back on helped me. They work on my iPad again. 🙂
