iPhone 6 Plus screen stock upside down orientation

I'm having the exact same issue, and I'm running iPhone 6 with iOS 8.0.1. When I turn on my phone, the screen is often not orientated properly. Need to turn it 90 degrees and back usually to fix it. Screen also doesn't work while in the wrong orientation. Am trying to update to 8.0.2 tonight, but definitely not promising.

I was having this problem, but if you go to Settings > General > Accessibility, then turn off Reachability it will fix it. You can then turn Reachability back on once you've confirm the orientation has been fixed.

This worked for me but I had to lock the orientation first to get it to flip back to normal. It has been fine since. Thanks for the fix!

Spent chat online with apple today after bringing my iphone 6 plus in to the store. Online said they have no issues to notify and do not have a fix they are working for it which I seem is crazy!! They told me to return the phone for a new unit. I still think it is a software issue because my iphone 6 does it sometimes too!!

This is a definite issue with the 6 plus on 8.0.2 (and earlier). It is very annoying. Expecting a fix soon from apple.

I too am having this issue with my 6 plus. The screen frequently gets stuck in upside down orientation!

Hi Guys, calibrate your compass. Same issue with my 6 plus. But after I calibrated my compass, the issue never happen. I'm still monitoring the problem.

Hi, I forgot to mention that compass have 2 steps in calibration. 1st is the calibration the red dot around the circle, 2nd is the overlapping of 2 circles together. Until now no problem with my 6 plus.

Same thing here. I have tried all the suggestions above with no success. I have to power cycle the unit to fix. I never had these issues in iOS 8 Beta on my iPhone5. Now that I have the iPhone6+ it happens all the time.

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that the new iPhones have dual accelerometers.

I'm having this issue. I just sent in a request to have my iPhone replaced as its still under warranty. Let's hope Apple just does the right thing here. I've heard in other threads that this is a hardware issue.

They did not do the right thing. They claimed that they couldn't reproduce the problem and sent my phone back to me. I tried starting it from a fresh clean install, not restoring my backup, but I still have the problem.

If its a software issue, than its a bug. If it is a hardware issue, than either we have lemons and Apple is covering it up like they did with the iPhone 5 battery problem, or there is a fix pending.
