Boot Camp Assistant Reboots to a Black Screen

I tried to install Windows 7 from a DVD onto my Mac mini using Boot Camp Assistant. Boot Camp Assistant partitioned my drive and restarted my computer but all I get is a black screen. The DVD drive spins up but nothing launches. When I unplugged the DVD drive the Mac mini won't boot to OSX I just get a light gray screen, then it turns black and says "Non-system disc Press any key to reboot". No keys on the bluetooth keyboard work.

The DVD behaves differently. With the USB, you get no bootable device, but the DVD does not seem to that.

I am doing a backup of my Bootcamp installation on a 2011 Mini (i7/6630GPU). I will wipe it and run a test both ways using a W7 Pro 64-bit ISO and DVD and test. I have Mavericks 10.9.5 on that machine.

Would you mind waiting till tomorrow morning for my testing to complete?

Your problem is slightly different. If you removed the Optical Drive to install the second disk, BCA will try to set the NVRAM to boot from the internal Optical drive path and will not find a bootable device.

If you run BCA, do you get an option to create a USB with an ISO image? If yes, use a USB2 flash disk which is 8-16GB. Do not use a USB3 flash drive. Disconnect all external storage when you run the BCA.

My 2012 MBP supports both options, using the Optical drive or the USB (ISO + BC Drivers).
