iPhone 6 Plus camera rotation problem - any way to fix it?

I took 7 photos this evening with my new iPhone 6 plus. All were taken in landscape mode. All were taken standing, holding the camera in landscape position pointed straight ahead or at a slight tilted down angle to shoot something relatively low in height.

3 of the photos came out oriented correctly. But 4 came out rotated incorrectly. And there doesn't seem to be a way to correct the rotation in the Photos app, is there?

Why don't the photos consistently turn out rotated correctly in the Photos app?

In the Camera app itself, I looked at each one after shooting via the little window that appears after taking each photo. In all those views the photos were oriented correctly.

A bug? Anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks,

But under AppleCare's guidance I did a restore as a new phone, which caused a new download of the current firmware. So it was the latest software master anyway.

At any rate, I'm getting a call in the morning from a "senior advisor" to look more into the issue. I was just wondering if other people were experiencing the same problem.

If it's just a fixable bug that's one thing. But I'm a bit worried that maybe there are some phones with buggy accelerometers and maybe I have one.

I had one flipped 180 degrees to. But just once. And it didn't look flipped until I transferred it to my computer.

Well, if you cannot reproduce using those steps it makes me even more concerned that rather than a general software bug there is some hardware problem with my iPhone.

I have my tech person call in 10 minutes so I'll know more afterwards.

Had my call with the "senior advisor" at Apple. They are able to replicate there on their devices and say it's a known issue with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and there should be a bug fix upcoming at some point. In the meantime, I will just use a work around like make sure to go to portrait mode and back to landscape mode afterwards.

It's interesting to see other people's results. Apple was able to replicate the problem on their own devices during today's call. So I'm hoping, in a way, that people who post here who are not able to replicate it are somehow just not following the exact same steps I am.

Needless to say, until a fix comes out I will be testing every iPhone 6 Plus which passes my way to see if they are all the same in this regard or not.

I've never been a fan of the "me too" replies on Forums, but since this seems to be a legitimate bug, I thought it might be helpful to get another point of feedback on this. I have an iPhone 6 (not the Plus), latest iOS (8.0.2). The behavior I am noticing is similar:

- When I take a photo in Landscape mode, ANY time I take it, it shows the photo sideways when I look at it in the photo library. In fact, I am attaching a screenshot that will show you exactly what I'm talking about.

- I have also had the issue someone mentioned where the photos are rotated 180'

For me, this happens ALL the time, regardless of if I start in portrait/landscape mode, locked or unlocked. Photos never will rotate automatically to be viewed correctly. I've tried rebooting, and verified portrait lock isn't on (as you can see in the screenshot, there is no portrait lock icon).

Yes, for the ones which are already taken, you will have to use some tool to rotate them. While they are still on your iPhone you can rotate them one by one by Edit > choose crop tool and there you will find a rotate tool.

Or on your computer you can probably rotate them all at once.

It is annoying, I agree. I hope Apple fixes the bug quickly.
