How to change contacts location to sync to icloud

I have my contacts on my iphone stored in my old yahoo account and can't seem to get them to sync into icloud. I've tried to export/import from a backup on my windows computer but not finding the file. Any thoughts?

To sync your contacts with iCloud rather than Yahoo, you'll have to copy the Yahoo contacts to iCloud, then disable Yahoo contacts syncing so you don't see duplicates. In order to do this, do the following:

  1. Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
  2. Download the app My Contacts Backup. (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from Yahoo you will need the “Pro” version.) Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from Yahoo) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself. Confirm that you have received the email.
  3. Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
  4. Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
  5. Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your Yahoo account and turn off contacts syncing with Yahoo (otherwise you will see duplicate contacts on your device).
  6. Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the Yahoo contacts back to your device, and to iCloud.

Under settings and in the mail, Contacts, Calendars I see three "accounts". My icloud and my Yahoo (my email address from before I set up the cloud). When I turn the contacts off in my Yahoo account all of my contacts on my phone disappear. I was able to sync my calendar by changing my default calendar to the icloud but that is not an option with contacts.
