Iphone 6 gyroscope issues

Hi I Just got the Iphone 6 last week and started noticing certain issues with Apps using the Gyroscope for screen orientation.

as an example, Facetime, sometimes, I find myself having to hold my phone upside down (home button on top side of screen) or horizontaly to see the other person right side up Same goes for the picture album app and the news paper app.

I have made sure that the orientation lock is properly turned of and even then, the issue persists..

thinking the gyroscope might be non-fonctionnal, I tried using the compass and the compass calibration works fine and senses when i rotate the phone.....

possibly a software issue then? anybody have a clue?

I have the 6 Plus and noticed the camera is NOTORIOUS for flipping over and taking pictures completely askew, but also the home screen flipping over completely, forcing me to use the phone upside down. Other than doing a reset of the phone (turning off, turning back on), I'm unaware of any other options, and that's only a temporary fix until it does it again. I really hope Apple offers a software release with a patch for the fix relatively soon--this is incredibly annoying.

Has anyone noticed if running iOS 8 on an older model phone has had any affect?

Hi Tony

I have been experiencing the same problems with my 6+ and having scratched around the inter web and found there were a fair few users with the same issue, I decided to go through Apple support. They straight away directed me to my local apple store for a replacement handset. According to the Apple genius this is a known problem and Apple are happy to swap out handsets to cure the problem.

I have the same issue with my iPhone 6+.

Tried with soft restart, normal restart, reset and recover from backup...all with the same results. Have had this since iOS 9.0 and now running iOS 9.0.2

Hope that Apple will fix this in the upcoming iOS releases.

The display settings that I always run with the standard.

You shouldn't wait for an iOS fix as this is clearly a hardware issue. Make an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar, show them the problem and they'll more than likely replace your phone. Make sure you back it up before your appointment.

Hi there,

Today, after two months of testing many things, I could solve this problem!

My iPhone 6 Gyroscope, after an update got this issue... some seconds after resetting the iPhone the Gyroscope locked and Screen rotation and all otter features related to the gyroscope was not working too..

I knew that it is not a hardware problem and is because of recent updates...

I tried to disable and enable any option related to gyroscope in "settings" (like rotation lock, motion reduction, etc) and finally found that the problem is from "Reachability"!! I disabled it and everything is OK now!!

So, don't forget: Normally these kinds of problems are because of the new updates and you need to disable and enable some options to be set correctly... (I am a programmer and I understand program issues 😉 )
