How would TimeMachine work with DropBox?
As a designer I have a lot of large files on my iMac, and have been backing up using a TimeMachine.
But I've recently began exploring the idea of saving everything wholesale on DropBox (without saving it on the iMac itself) so that I can access my files wherever, it will be backed up by DB, and I can free up space on my computer.
But I wonder how that would work with TimeMachine? Since I assume (and I may be wrong, please correct me if I am) TM makes a carbon copy of the iMac's HDD every hour, does that mean that if I don't physically store anything on my iMac but everything on DropBox, nothing will be backed up to the TimeMachine?
If yes, does that make my alternative only to save it all to Dropbox, then save it all to my external HDD (disabling it as a TimeMachine) manually and not using the TimeMachine function altogether?
Anyway it could work perfect with TM and DB without having to save anything on my iMac itself?
Thank you!
*Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just want to be sure and I genuinely am looking for a solution. Thank you!
