There is some mistake in the statement. I bought it online, and it was actually shipped to me the next day through UPS. I confused it with the macbook pro I bought around the same time, and that was picked up from the store.

I didn't return it immediately because except for the updating IOS problem, it was working fine. So I thought it's just the new IOS problem, maybe it will be able to upgrade when the next IOS comes out. So when I realize there is something really wrong with the iphone is when the new IOS comes out and I want to try again, and this time using a PC iTune, thinking it will give it a proper upgrade, and finally the phone stopped working. So I took it back to Apple immediately. How would I know not being able to upgrade IOS is such a serious problem? And there are so many other people who have the same issue here. What would be the reason for me to want to modify my genuine iPhone with someone else other than Apple, within the 1st month of usage, plus I wasn't even aware it was defect!

If after you purchased the device and were unable to perform an update, that is a problem. If troubleshooting at that time did not result in correction, you return it. Within the 14 days of purchase, you can return for a refund, and purchase a new device if desired. Much easier within a day or so of delivery to dispel the statement there are non-standard parts. If purchased direct from Apple Store, then you have more standing. I hope you get it worked out.

I know it would be so much easier for us to return it on the first day of using it. But we honestly didn't know there's sth very wrong with it. It was working, just without updating iOS ability. And Apple didn't warn people saying "Hey, if your new iPhone 6 cannot update to new IOS, bring it back immediately. It's a serious problem". And in my issue, my warranty is void without my knowledge. Apple staff won't tell me exactly what's going on inside of my iPhone, but I heard them say it's missing components. Really hope this can work out. Coz we didn't do anything wrong to our iPhone. Thank you for help us think.

I also got error 53 when try to update iPhone 6 through iTunes.

Before I updated, exactly my touch button was not working, it was disable because I updated from iOS 8.2 to iOS 8.3 by phone not use iTunes.

I used Android phone before I change to use iPhone because I think iOS and iphone will bring to me a stable device. But I was disappointed about that.

How long can Apple fix this error ? TIM COOK should inform about that.

Hi everyone !

I had the same problem now, 53 error and this was because i changed the display and not the original touch id button and the iOS software update stopped halfway and gave me the error. Changed back to the original touch id button and problem solved. This was absolutely the issue here.

Thanks everyone for posting problems and solutions here.

Tonight I attempted to install iOS 8.4 on my iphone 6, which failed. So, I went with plan B, which was to connect my phone to my PC because iTunes always seems to get the job done when my phone won't do what it's told. Upon trying to update the software I got error code 53. According to hundreds of other people this error code is death sentence for iphones. Whether or not it's a hardware or software issue I'm not exactly sure, but Apple really needs to get their act together with these devices. So, in a panic, I tried to resolve the issue using the recovery option on iTunes. After three unsuccessful attempts I decided to try to restore the device. Attempt number one was a failure. I was getting upset, so I called my carrier. They were of no help. Then, I started reading forums and what not, which led me to this conversation. I was not going to let this phone, and Apple's lack of quality control, rob me of any more time. So, in a last ditch effort I changed USB ports from a 3.0 to a 2.0 and tried to restore from there. After a painstaking four hours in my office I am pleased to report that I have defeated the infamous "error code 53". Thankfully, I had performed a backup right before everything went haywire. I was able to resolve this issue without having to visit the Apple or Sprint store. If you get this code try and try again using different USB ports. I have noticed that none of my Apple devices behave when I try to connect them using a USB 3.0 port. This makes sense since Apple is behind in today's technology. Especially when compared to the Android that I use to have, and quite frankly I am beginning to miss more and more each time I see another iOS update. Good luck to all that encounter this issue in the future.

I was previously running iOS 8.3 before I got the screen of death and error code 53. After I got my phone restored and updated to iOS 8.4 the performance of certain features is very sluggish. The touch ID features do not work at all. I am grateful that I was able to get my phone to come back to life, however. I mainly wanted to get back into the phone so that I could offload the content that didn't get backed up. I will be contacting my carrier for a replacement in the very near future. I hope this answered your questions.
