IPHONE 6 This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably

I have the IPhone 6. Bought it last Saturday,Just updated it to the newest 8.0.2 software Friday Sept 26th. No Problems until today, Monday Sept. 29th when Im getting this error .

It started this afternoon and, no i did not and do not have it plugged in. It was charged this morning and was at 57% battery this afternoon when the problem started.

Now I get this messege that keeps poping up over and over "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone"

It keeps popping up and i dont have ANYTHING plugged into it.

I called Verizon because thats who i bought it from who put me thru second line for help.

After a bunch of BS and telling me that they have had problems with chargers because of the amplified voltage and wrong plug being sent out which sounds like bull to me because he said the new iphones have a different head on the plug, not the phone side but the end that has the usb connection and goes to the ac outlet, which dont make a lot of sense when you can also plug them into a usb port. I looked at different iphone plugs from the 4s, the 5 and the 6,and they all show the same input and output voltages and amps. Basically nothing that has to do with my problem i am having

Anyway at this point now they are saying something may have happened with the new software when i download it last friday.

So now they had me backup my phone to itunes, and restore the iphone from itunes.

When you do this, itunes will automatically download the new version software, which seems to be taking a long time to download.

I will try to post results later to see if this works......

iPhone 6, iOS 8, software 8.0.2

Brand new iPhone 6 plus arrive 30 minutes ago. I connected to wifi, updated, plugged it into the PC and "This cable or accessory is not certified..." I have tried several cables and plugs, now waiting for Vodafone to call be back.... cant wait! :-(

Try a different USB port and see if that makes any difference. Also, plug your phone into the supplied charger and plug it into a wall socket and see if you still get the same message.

i cannot tell you about a charging problem, other than the tech at Apple saying sometimes lint or a foreign object can get into the charging port and cause problems. But mine charged at all times just has the error about not a certificed cable , looks like your going to be heading to the Apple Store. Again as I wrote earlier, if it's giving you the error without it being plugged into anything, it has to be replaced.

Just found an advise (I haven't tried but I hope it works).

This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone iPad fix!

Method 1:

  1. Plug the USB cable to the wall-charger
  2. Turn off the iPhone and when you see the loading wheel spinning, plug the charger in the iPhone
  3. Let the iPhone be connected to the charger for a while. Don’t switch it on
  4. After about 15 minutes, turn it on your iPhone. Dismiss the warnings
  5. The charging should mostly continue without a problem

Method 2:

  1. Plug in USB power
to wall-charger
  2. Then connect USB cable to iPhone
  3.
Dismiss any warnings
  4. Unlock your iPhone so you get to the “Home Screen”
  5. Dismiss any remaining warnings
  6. Unplug the fake “Knock Off” USB cable
  7. Followed by plugging it back in.
  8. Dismiss warning again
  9. It should now charge.

I also have the same problem as you and that was also after upgrading to the latest iOS on my iPhone 6. In my case the iPhone 6 could not charge when it was plugged in. I thought that was odd because it worked before. And so began my investigation. Because I also had my old iPhone 5, I plugged the iPhone 6 charger into my iPhone 5 it was charging. My first thought was the new iPhone 6 is broken. Then I decided to use the iPhone 5 charger to charge the iPhone 6 to see what would happen. Interestingly it was charging. Then I decided to swap the cable around. And now I am using an iPhone 6 charger with an iPhone 5 cable to charge my iPhone 6. And using an iPhone 5 charger with a iPhone 6 cable to charge my iPhone 5.

Weird, I shouldn't need to do this since all my cables are original from Apple. I think that Apple has stuffed it up in the latest iOS upgrade. They are trying to be too smart.
