Android File Transfer not working on OSX Mavericks?

Hi there, so I tried connecting my LG G3 running Android 4.4.3 KitKat to my Macbook on OSX Mavericks 10.9.5 . Put the phone on MTP(Media Transfer Protocol) but nothing shows up on the desktop. Switched it to PTP(Photo Transfer Protocol) and iPhoto popped up immediately and showed that my micro sd card was connected. Tried installing ATF(Android File Transfer) on OSX but the app couldn't detect my phone. Did some research and checked other threads saying that everything but OSX Mavericks recognizes the Android connection.

Wanted to chat to someone live on the apple page but you guys wanted to charge me AU$59 for technical support.

Please look into this matter ASAP.

Thank you.

Enoch

Also I have Android File Transfer 1.0 and a Nexus 7 tablet running 4.4 and I was able to connect on Mavericks 10.9.5 without any problems (usually I use the WiFi to safe having to plug in).

If you can't get it to work you should contact the developer of the application and ask for advice - Apple Support (to whom you are not talking here - this is a user to user forum) will not be able to help with third-party applications.

I was hoping the mods would see this or something lol. I read on alot of forums that alot of people are facing problems connecting their 4.4.3 to Mavericks 10.9.5 . They had to reboot the phone while connected to the Macbook or iMac for it to work. But sadly it doesn't work on mine. And I read somewhere that Google stopped updating the AFT. Hmmm, not sure, thanks for the reply!

Roger Wilmut's advice worked fine for me, using Mac Os Yosemite. I tried a couple of things, e.g. mounting my Motorola in the Finder (did not work), and in the end I downloaded Wifi File Transfer. You get the free version, which does not handle files bigger than 5 MB, but spend 0,99 (Euros, in my case), and you have a simple app, doing exactly what it promised; transferring the Weihnachtsoratorium in a few minutes.

Thank you, mr. Wilmut.
