iPad 2 keeps crashing rebooting after ios 8 update

Since updating my iPad 2 to ios 8 I have had numerous problems with it, first thing that happened was the accesscibility features came on and would'nt turn off, had to attach to my mac and disable them in itunes, also while this was occuring the ipad 2 kept randomly rebooting, this is still occuring, I have so far done a soft reset and a hard reset, I've done a restore, I've updated to ios 8.2 and still the same things happening, this is starting to get very annoying.

iPad 2 was working fine until this update . . please can anyone assist . . .

I suspect that this post will shortly be deleted by an Administrator due to the word

After speaking to a lady at Apple about my complaints regarding the delayed responses and excuses and just plain stalling of Apple Customer Services, I was informed that it was not the habit (Can't use the P word) to discuss the inner workings with customers the hardware/software of Apple products (or there about's) and this was why I was told the things I'd been told . . . i.e. stalled/lied to . .

Apple really do think their customers are children and should be treated as such . .

I started this post because I had a problem with my iPad 2 brought about by installing iOS8 and what I've ended up with is a harsh lesson in we can say what we want and we don't really care attitude of Apple unless we make money from it.

If anyone who's been kind enough to offer words of support read this, thank you . .

As for Apple - See you in the small claims courts

Seems Apple are as good as their word and have now ignored my previous 4 emails requesting they confirm there answers and stance on this issue.

Oh if only they put as much effort into repairing iPad' for customers as they do in ignoring the customers simple requests for information, the world would be a better place and less stressful.

Vince,

Thanks for your hard work. I've been following your uphill battle with Apple for some weeks now, you are a very patient individual. I have an iPad Mini and was having the similar problem you and many others are experiencing, however my problem turned out to be different. I took it to the apple store here in Indianapolis Indiana and was told that I had 5 crashing apps. The tech did an iTunes restore from one of their lap tops there and my iPad have been working fine ever since.

I hope you're able to get this issue resolved soon.

Good luck!

Eusi.

Eusi,

unfortunately Apple Customer Service no longer wish to speak to me and are now ignoring all emails I send to them as they deem the case closed, I have now placed a request for copies of my case notes, but they even messed this up, after sending a request in under my name Vincent, they sent me a request back for information addressed to a Ms Elgey . .

I shall continue the fight, as I'm sure that other Apple users probably feel the same way as me when it comes to Apples absurd charges for Out of Warranty Services

"Betrayed"

And will update with any further information or progress on here, unless of course this thread gets deleted . .in which case I'll still be posting on my blog.

Emailed me Apple Customer Support again today after being contacted by someone else with a similar aged iPad 2 walking into an Apple store and having their iPad 2 swapped out without having to pay a Out of Warranty charge, on theirs it was a faulty Home button and freezing iOS 8 problem.

Good customer consistency I see (NOT!)

So have asked the question why one person can get there's swapped out FOC and another can't ?

My iPad 4th gen has the crashing/boot/loop issue - I've tried a various number of restores to get it working again, sometimes it lasts for a few days, other times it crashes when only getting as far as swiping the unlock screen, other times it happens in the middle of browsing the web/using an app, it seems totally random, although all crashes I've experienced so far have happened when connected to WiFi (mine is a basic wifi only version) Even from a clean re-install it always works past the initial setup, i.e before the OS truly starts but after the OS has been installed.

Was working fine before IOS8

I contacted Apple and they basically told me to make an appointment with a 'Genius' and they will investigate but the problem does appear 'hardware related' - If so, because I'm out of warranty (the iPad is 2 years old this month) then my best option would be to have the iPad replaced at the Apple store - They have told me this will cost £220, I will receive the same model.

So my question is - If they can provide a replacement model the same as the earlier one, how is it that this will be working without issue? If what they say is correct then this does appear to be a hardware related issue?

I'm tempted to pay the £220 as at least I will have their attention until they get this fixed one way or another, the sad fact is that even if the iPad was currently working properly it's resale value would be less than the 'cost to repair'

In a sense, Apple have lost at least one customer here, I've just upgraded my phone from iPhone 5 (the one which had the signal issue) to a (Android) Sony Xperia Z3, this is a very fast and reliable phone! - My decision was based on the fact that I've been plagued with poor phone signal for the last 24 months and the nail in the coffin was the issue with my iPad. I've always liked Apple products, but there reluctance and the highly restrictive (forced) OS has turned me right off.

Hi VinceCharming,

I just read through your story. Interesting read, and the Apple is handling this is scary. How on earth are they not better off by replacing your product?

I am in a similar situation with my iPad mini. It reboots periodically, which started recently. I have tried to reset to factory settings more than five times, and it doesn't fix it. When I discussed the issue with Apple Support, I was told that "one cannot expect electronics to be functioning for more than two years".

Where I'm from we have two years of warranty, but one certainly expects that products lasts for longer than two years - also electronics. My iPad is from Christmas two years ago, so it's 2 years and a few months old. Apparently Apple thinks that it served for long enough time, but I certainly do not think so, and am very disappointed.

Ever since I upgraded my IPAD 3 to the latest iOS, it crashes

when I purchase an item from the itunes store and try to download it.

THe new iOS is terrible and had made my ipad very slow, prone to crashes

and when I am even handing over $1.99 per episode for the shows i watch

to Apple Itunes Store, it crashes.

THere is no enjoyment at all for me. Now I dont even want to purchase

from itunes because I know it will crash, reboot, then stat the download back from the start

andit just doesn't do it once, it does it 6-7 times.

I have had enough.

ALso, i think i type too fast for ipad now, never did before,

so it misses characters and have to go back and corect it.

MY attitute is, I want things to work and to work fast and they way i want it to.

AFter reading everyone elses problems with the new iOS,

IM not eve going to bother wasting my time getting in contact with Apple.

Im selling my ipad and buying a Android Tablet with Google Play,

NOw I will just give them my money as their platform works best.

Jesus, when did apple start to becom Microsoft?

buggy, crappy software that really makes people annoyed and frustrated.

I think Micrsoft had something to do wit the new iOS, hence its crap.

ANyway, thankyou for reading, you will find one very cheap ipad 3 up for auction

on ebay, and going to the elctronic store to buy an android tablet.

SImple and best soluton.

Richypee,

what annoys me the most about this whole situation is that after searching for iPad 2 IOS 8 faults on Twitter, I've come across a number of cases where other people have had issues without out of warranty iPad 2's and they visit an Apple Store and get it replaced FOC, yet others don't, what's even more annoying is one of the people I spoke to on Twitter actually only had a broken home button.

No consistency in how Apple treat customers, it's pot luck tbh.

Apple's are presently enjoying enormous profits and good luck to them, but they have obviously never heard of the adage "Don't bite the hand that feeds you"

I believe in Karma

Mar 23, 2015 2:17 AM in response to r3g1uz

r3G1uz,

I agree a product that costs of £500 should be expected to last more than 2 years, even if it is electronics, as long as the product is looked after, I look after nurmerous electronic devices in my role as a Systems Admin and we don't have problems with electronics failing after 2 years, unless of course they've been mistreated or there is an inherent problem with them.

I'm still emailing my Apple Customer Support advisor, but as stated previously Apple have said my case is now closed and are continuing to ignore my emails, only time I get a response is when his Out of Office is on.
