iPhone 6 poor picture quality

I have an iPhone 6 (64gb AT&T) running iOS 8.02 and I'm experiencing poor image quality with photos taken with the camera. It looks they are artificially over sharpened and fairly pixelated when compared to photos taken with my iPhone 5. It's most noticeable when capturing skin tones in a lowish light setting. It almost looks like there has been a bad watercolor effect added to then photo. I'm attaching a few examples that have been cropped to show the problem spots. Anyone else having this issue?

Saying something inflammatory, derogatory or making character attack is something else entirely. As an HR manager, I can tell you there's nothing about saying the camera has problems that is either of those three

We have no idea of what the removed post contained (apart from what abstruse wrote).

then I am arguing it's a shady TOS designed to not allow real discussion

This isn’t a “discussion” forum.

Hmmm sounds like you did make a little bit of an attack there, hate to say it. To play it safe and not get censored, I would avoid inflammatory remarks and stick to the facts. Many of us are frustrated by some shortcomings but I can see why they removed it you got a little hostile which an online forum speak, that is a bit. I can kind of see why they might have removed that if that's what you said. Not saying I agree with Apple but I can understand more so why they would remove it. Just keep things professional

I purchased an iPhone 6 on 12.26.14 and returned it today (12.27.14). I was aghast at the insane heavy-handedness of the noise reduction. I, too, use my camera for photographic purposes related to my work and the watercolor effect was unbearable. I will be going back to the 5 and upgrading to the 5s when the time comes. I am REALLY hoping Apple reconsiders this decision. The images from my 6 were absolutely horrible. I am so disappointed.

Images show side by side iPhone 5 versus iPhone 6.

I'm wondering if they reduced the image quality of the iPhone 6 so they could differentiate it with the iPhone 6 Plus? I love Apple, bug it befuddles me as to why the camera and screen resolution are worse compared to the iPod 5 and iPhone 5. Surely they tested. It's not at all comforting to see the many others that bought the iPhone 6 principally as a camera are disappointed.

I know. I'm incredibly disappointed and worried about the future. As someone who relies on a handy camera for my job, this is beyond frustrating. It's just bizarre that they've REGRESSED in quality. How is that even possible? Hoping they fix it with a software update but I'm skeptical as it seems they made a very conscious decision to pursue this aesthetic for some bizarre reason.

Found a user of iPhone 6 on MacRumors photo which very clearly shows the INSANE issues with noise reduction. Here are some screencaps of the image at 100% - the site won't let me upload at full resolution so just screencapped for all to see. Like, are there actually people who think this looks good? Look at the trees! It's horrible!

I don't think I've ever been as disappointed with a tech purchase as I am with this phone because of the picture compression issue. Where were all the "trusted reviewers" on this? Why did everything I read tout the camera on this phone? From now on I'm waiting to buy to see what the issues are. Would have definitely NOT bought this phone had I seen the absolutely absurdly unusable pictures pumped out by this POS.
