I have noticed that the videos on the iphone 6 plus are very dark compared to the pictures ... Is this normal or does my phone have an issue ?

Whatever Apple's problem is, Snapchat (a 3rd party app) seems to have solved it. To see what I am talking about, record a Snapchat video and hit the "crescent moon" icon. Bam, instantly brighter video. So it's obviously a software issue that Apple could provide a fix for if they wanted to...

Thanks for your link. I contacted Apple using it and - surprise - not response on this issue. Not a peep. The best I can do is complain about it here, it would seem. At least people who notice this issue and do an internet search for the problem will come straight to these posts and know they aren't crazy, because this issue seems CRAZY!

At least we get helpful suggestions like the one from MacSkillet here. I should try your solution, thanks for sharing it!

(17,214 people have reached this topic. I'm surprised it's not more like 1,000,000. I guess people don't really use the video feature in low light enough to care.)

I Have this same problem in my iPhone 5S. Video is too dark compared to photos in the same moment and place, and other video apps will show much more details. If I record video with Vine I can see a brighter image just like the examples in the previous post from TylerGro. I sent a bug report as many of you.

Almost 1 year from the start of the issue, and there's no official resolution from Apple.

Like many other people, I've lost faith in apple...

Looks like Apple is currently busy catching up with Goggle rather than fixing up their mess.

I've been a droid user for a while and have decided to try an iPhone for the first time. I received my new iPhone 6 Plus last week. Everything seems good but the video camera on this phone is awful. It's very dark like how people are describing. I record videos of my kids all the time so after reading this forum and seeing no solutions, I will be returning this phone and stick go back to the Samsung phone.

I also have the same issue and my search for an answer lead me to your page. I think my 5s is much better and this is a software issue, but for now when I have to take videos during evening I use my wife's sony z3 that is excellent ! and when I am alone, no videos. Waiting for apple to listen to us. Hope its not too late !!

The reason I believe, that Vine and Messages have a better quality in low light than the camera app is simple... Those apps are meant to send short vids, and the quality is likely to be at the lower frame rate to make transmitting easier. It's probably recording at the same rate as in the 5c.5s cameras. I guess Apple doesn't care about people wanting to record video at night. This ***** because other than that I love this phone, but for me, it's a big deal because I do a ton of night recording for bands.

I also have the same issue. I recently had my phone replaced for another problem and the second phone has the same issue. The strange thing is that if you take the same video from the iMessage or texting feature the video is much brighter. So I have resolved to just taking videos and texting them to myself. I have videos from both the camera app and from texting but I haven't brought it to the store yet. I've attached screen shots of the videos you can clearly see the dark one take. From the camera app and the other from texting
