iPhone 6 plus video is dark compared to the pictures

I have noticed that the videos on the iphone 6 plus are very dark compared to the pictures ... Is this normal or does my phone have an issue ?

I got a call from a second- or third-level Apple tech. He said this is a feature, not a bug. He said the darker video in dim light is due to the higher frame rate (30 fps) in the iPhone 6 than in previous models. Basically, Apple decided to optimize the video for shooting in brighter light, which means it is worse for shooting in dim light. He acknowledged that providing an option for the user to shoot at, say, 24 fps in dim light would be nice but that enough people would need to request that for Apple to consider adding it as a new feature.

I think it is a software thing, because as some of you say video through a message is better. Id say its to do with the "Shutter Speed". Interesting how it also effects panorama, time-lapse and slo-mo.I just tested it then on my iPhone 6 Plus 128gb in dim room. Its definitely not the norm, the video's and panorama are way to dark, and are unusable.

I totally agree with NimrodAUS.. test it on my iPhone6 128gb too and imessage video has more brightness (and more noise) compared to normal "Camera" app. Adjusting brightness doesn't help either.

slomo 120fps is darker than normal video, and 240fps is even more darker.

I don't think should be a feature request. It's a BUG... really annoying bug.

Feature requests will means it either never looked up, or will take very long time.

Both iPhone 6 users in this family have the same issue. So I took my iPhone 6 to the Genius Bar in NYC on 14th Street. The person helping me had never heard of the issue and couldn't help but after explaining the situation and showing video vs. photos agreed there was a problem, so he got one of the managers. The manager tried to convince me there was no problem with the video because I could not demonstrate how dark the video records in low light due to the bright lighting of the store. When I showed how dark the video was that I had already shot in low light compared to photos taken in the same light the manager acted like that was normal. Frustrating. Eventually I was offered a replacement for my iPhone 6 but I decided not to go through the process of setting up another one only to find out the same issue existed in the new device.

I see that this question here on the Apple Support Community has had 11,946 views and 49 replies. I looked here last month before going to the Genius Bar but did not leave a message at that time. I thought maybe this IS only an issue with a few of the iPhone 6 cameras and I was just one of very few people who had this problem. Now I think the best thing that we can do (since there has been no fix or official response) is leave a message here to be counted.

It takes great photos at least!

Apple doesn't count views or posts on this forum. If you feel the issue needs to be heard by Apple, the thing you need to do is contact Apple via this attached link: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

I know this isn't ideal, but for $1.99 in the App store you can purchase NightCap Pro and use that to shoot your video. There is an option to make the video brighter. Just tap the star, then tap the Sun image to turn it on. It works pretty good. Much better quality in low light than the default camera app. You can see the icon I'm referring to in the attached screenshot. I now it isn't ideal, but it is only $2.00 and I can live with that until/if Apple fixes the default app.
