iPhone 6 plus video is dark compared to the pictures

I have noticed that the videos on the iphone 6 plus are very dark compared to the pictures ... Is this normal or does my phone have an issue ?

Just got an iPhone 6s Plus over the weekend and this issue is driving me crazy.

I never had a problem with my iPhone 6 video shooting in low light. In fact, I still have my iPhone 6 Plus(haven't sold it yet) and recording side by side with the 6s Plus you can see a major difference.

the video recording is completely useless in my apartment (which is moderately lit, but its not enough. phone is unusable)

i want to take it to the genius bar, but it sounds like it will be a waste of time based on what everyone here is saying they just ignore the issue.

What you need to do is get a major tech blog involved like engadget or something, once the word starts being spread on a larger scale more people will notice/complain and apple will need to take a look at it.

Just got my Iphone 6s 10 days ago and just discovered this issue. I did a side-by-side comparison with the Samsung S6 camera.

Took both videos in the same light one right after each other.

For those just joining, one possible reason is that Apple prioritized frame rate over lighting (higher frame rate means less light coming in per frame). Someone also suggested using another app which has more options for lighting.

I bought the 6s yesterday and noticed the issue right away. Instead of a bug report I selected the "feature enhancement request" and asked them to add 24p for low light. I just tested the app FiLMiCPro (which shoots 24p) in low light and it works brilliantly with the 6s. The native camera app is the problem not the actual camera.

Thanks for all the info!

That is a different problem. The problem we are discussing is that camera is DARK, not blurry, and this happens in many models, not just the iPhone 6 Plus.

This happens, as stated many times in this and other topics, because Apple chose FPS (frames per second) over quality, so its recording video at more FPS which is an improvement when shooting outside in a bright space, but a problem indoors with dim light. In that situations many of us would expect better light even though the frames were less per second. To check it, open the Camera app, check fotos option and then switch to video, you'll notice immediately the video is so dark you can't barely see anything when indoors. Then open Vine or any other app that uses less FPS and you'll see the video may have not so good quality but you can actually see the video.

I have the same issue, and definitely it seams to be a software bug. I have my iPhone 5S with 8.0.1 witch it is work great, no difference between Photo mode, Video or slow-motion, it is a shame to not be able to use the iPhone 6+ to record a video in low light, do not talk about slow-motion. Apple should work to fix this issue.
