Trash preferences? Maybe you want to give more details of what you're doing to see if it's reproducible.
I'm having this issue too.
OSX Yosemite
FCPX 10.1.3
Using clips imported as optimized media from a Canon XA10, copied to library.
Copying a clip with a Keyer, Transformed and Cropped, w/ Audio Compressor and AULowpass. The clip is also running Dual Mono Channels.
I can copy the clip fine but when I try to paste attributes on another green screen shot in the same timeline FCPX freezes and then crashes. I CAN paste effects with no problem though.
I've been having this issue for a long time now. I've noticed the crash is repeatable when the first clip that I want to copy it's attributes from has it's audio's Pan Mode setting on anything other than "none." If I have that Pan Mode on "Dialogue," for example, and I copy, the moment I hit Paste Attributes (shift, command, v) on a target clip FCPX crashes. It doesn't matter that the target clip also has the same Pan Mode as the original clip. I've had to do a work-around by pasting attributes before moving the Pan Mode on my clips. I hope this helps, and I hope they fix this problem soon.
Are you using 10.1.3? I remember there used to be problems with Paste Attributes in an earlier version, but I haven't heard similar reports recently.
I don't see this problem in my machine. Did you delete preferences, as Tom recommended?
Yes, thanks, 10.1.3, and I'm still having the same Paste Attributes problem. To be able to use that feature, I've resorted to using that work-around every week on projects.
Trash preferences? How to you do that?
What version are you using?
FCP 10.1.3 and I have a new Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz intel Core i5 with 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
TThe paste attributes problem Luis is referring to did not involve an application crash. There is sonething else underlying this. If it happens consistently on most paste attrubutes you should take the system to an Apple Store or service technician.
I was having the same problem here. I just realized the error in my case was caused by the audio settings, specifically PAN-Surround-Mode. When disabled, the paste attributes function works fine, no more crashes so far.
What version are you using? Can you give details of the media and pan settings to see what the problem might be.
I'm using FCP X 10.1.4. I'm working with a ProRes HQ 1080p sequence with 48khz Audio (WAV).
As soon I enable the preset "Standard Surround" in PAN-Mode, I can't use paste attribute anymore. No matter what settings I use in the surround-panner.
As I don't need a surround mix, it's not a huge deal, but still a strange thing to happen.
I Can't reprdouce that. Do you have any audio effect plugins installed?
Actually no, I don't. Would another crash report be of any help to you?
Not me. I can't read them.
