I was having the same problem. My son has an iPad Pro and I was getting the notifications from iCloud Family to approve his purchases on my iPhone 6. The notifications would appear for a couple of seconds and vanish. Didn't know where to go to find them and approve his purchase. Luckily, I read here an easy solution: on the iPhone 6, swipe down from the home screen and all the notifications will appear. You should see the ones from iCloud Family. Click on each one and it will take you to a screen where you can decline or approve the purchase. I had to repeat the process for each notification and re-enter my Apple ID each I approved. Hope this helps.

The swipe down solution only works temporarily: if you don't give the notification attention it will go away--even in the swipe down menus. Last night, my boys both sent me requests, but I did not have time to review them until today. I went in to review the requests and, sure enough, they had disappeared from the swipe down menu. I logged into iTunes hoping to find a place where I could see all my notifications, but that place doesn't exist. The purpose of being able to approve apps is to have time to review them before approving them, but Apple has made that part of the process clunky. I'm happy that my kids can't download apps without my approval, but the system would work much better if Apple gave me the ability to pull up my unhandled requests. The sum of it is, at least to my understanding, that requests can be pulled up using the swipe down menus--as others have stated--but once they disappear from there, a new request must be sent. That said, I had one app, I think it was Clash Royal, that would not allow my son to send a second request and it took days for the game to reset so he could send another request. This system should have been updated by now: Apple needs to step it up.

I figured it out...

LOCK your phone. From the lock screen put your finger on the middle of the screen and swipe up slowly. The family notification will reappear. Then pick the notidication and you will be prompted to unlock the phone and taken to the AppStore to approve the notification.

I cannot find a way to do it when the phone is unlocked, it seems you have to lock the phone to see notifications.

This is still frustrating me. They go to notifications but only for so long or if you click on it but don't have time to check out the details when you return later the notification has gone! - I purchased my children apples so I could use this facility but quite honestly it is a very poor system. There should be one place to access all requests. Feeling conned right now!

Good question. I signed up for an @icloud.com email and they don't go there. They don't go to my Apple ID email. I haven't tried the icloud yet because I haven't figured out how to use it. I tried to set all notifications to come in like an amber alert, which would work perfectly, and that didn't do it.

If you are not holding your phone and tap the notification in a few seconds you miss it and have no idea it was requested. Family Sharing forces you to manage the account from your mobile device and then finds a way for you to not be able to find these requests. This is a huge Family Sharing FAIL.

So the family member has to call me and tell me the ask to buy is on the way?

They built a ton of useless crap into ios8 and left out the one thing I need. The one thing that would be useful to me besides it being a telephone.

I have this issue, however, mine are not ever showing in the Notification Center. I was getting them for over a year and then suddenly they stopped. I didn’t change any thing and Apple hasn’t figured it out yet. Did anyone get theirs to work when it really didn’t work? I’m not talking about individuals who just needed to check the Notification Center. I’m talking about fixing it when notices are not reaching The phone.

Having a similar issue.

My daughter buys an app, gets the prompt to ask permission (which she does) and then nothing happens.

I am the "organizer" so there is no option on my iPhone to be a parent although I read the "organizer" is automatically defined as a parent so theoretically I should receive a notification to approve the purchase. I never get anything.

Someone said to turn on Notifications for "Family" but I don't see any Family listed under the Notifications setup screen.

Not sure why Apple makes this so difficult on top of being so buggy.

Anyone else have this issue with a workaround?

Ditto here. "Ask To Buy" notification only appears for a short amount of time...if your iPhone is locked, you can't access the request at all. This is a big issue considering the touted - ease-of-use - of this new Family Sharing feature.

Thought it might be listed in the notification center, but not there either. Doesn't do much good seeing as though your children have to wait 24 hours to resubmit their request.

There has to be some solution for this:)

Ditto Here...

So miffed with another Apple "fail"

I'm overseas , and frankly its heart breaking for my youngsters 2000 miles away to take the trouble to enter their ( unnecessarily complex) iCloud passwords... send the request then ... PUFF ! the requests appear momentarily then disappear , or don't appear at all on my mac / IOS devices.

How frustrating . It looks to my children, as if I haven't bothered "approving.

What an ill-thought out implementation.

Actually, I got one step further. If you missed the message, it appears in Notification Center when you swipe down. My problem is that when I tap the request my phone is unresponsive for a while, but the approval screen does not appear.

A new request does not work after that. I'd appreciate any solution...

ps the same for my Mac. A banner appears, I click 'details', an nothing happens. This must be a bug, that should be removed asap

If you are set up as the organizer and missed the request from your family member, try swiping down on the screen. It will show you "today's events", but if you touch the notification button on the right, it will show you missed notifications. My daughter sent a request and I just figured this out an hour after the request and it was still there. I clicked it and it brought up the screen for me to approve (Or not). I hope this helps.

I was having the same issue And I figured out the problem. My son and I got iPads for Christmas and I set his up. I set him up with e family share deal and all was good but I did not get any notifications when asked. The problem was that I had already used my log in for iTunes/app store on his iPad since that is the way I used to do it. Once I logged out and logged him back in with his newly created iCloud child login it worked perfectly.
