I am contracted to work with someone who also is a Mac customer; we both have iCloud accounts. He has a business email, and has also given one to me, through the company that hosts his website. We would like an iCloud account so we can synch company information, etc. Is this possible to do if we each already have an iCloud account?

You could create a second user account on your MacBook Air and use a different AppleID for business purposes for that account.
Yes. You can have another Apple ID simply by creating one that will use the business email address given to you. You can also set up Mail with both your personal and the business email accounts.
Your iDevice can also receive and send mail from more than one email account, but if the iPad is yours you cannot configure it with both Apple IDs. It is either using yours or the other. iDevices are not multi-user devices.
