Windows explorer see's multiple "Local Disk" files in the iphone DCIM folders

Having setup my iphone 6 using a backup from my old iphone 5... finding that dropbox photo importing no longer works. While investigating I used windows explorer to peek into the folders that live under the iphone DCIM folder and founds lots of 1kb files all called "Local Disk".

They cant be deleted and I dont know if these are part of the problem.

Could just nuke all the photos but dont really want to have to 😟

Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data

Worked for me with iOS 8. Disconnect then reconnect the phone to the PC and all the "Local Disk" rubbish is gone.

After lots of research I found this & it worked for me:

Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > then Edit and proceed to erase each entry looking similar to this "a####.phobos.apple.com" . No more "Local Disk" and even erased the empty folders.

This worked a treat for me on my 5S.

Except it has increased the memory usage on my phone, I now have hardly any spare memory.

If you have slow-motion videos (and maybe panorama photos) on your iPhone, that will cause the problem you are getting.

Your options are to either:

1) delete the slow-motion videos on your iPhone and then copy the photos and videos (everything in the DCIM folder when your phone is connected to your PC via the USB cable)

2) go into each folder in the DCIM folder and select all of the files EXCEPT the 1kB files which have no name. They are also listed as type "Local Disk". These files have something to do with slow-motion video tagging and are not compatible outside of most of the iPhone world.
