iPhone 6 iOS 8 Voice Control comes on randomly while using headphones, how do I disable??

I already disabled Siri from Settings > General > Siri

This is really annoying, it stops my music and I try to navigate on the phone and the Voice Control screen appears and doesn't want to go away. Help please!

For working-out, listening to music, I was using my iPhone 6 with some crap old ear buds for months with no problem. Then last week, boom, voice control comes on beeping away in the middle of a song, skipping ahead to the next song. Then next thing I know the screen is showing "Controle Vocale". Then Siri is talking to me in Italian. ***? Temporary answer was timeless: Reboot the phone. Worked for a while. Then the beeping and song skipping came back. Even rebooting doesn't help anymore. Will try new ear buds. Hard for me because normal ear buds don't fit me very well. When I find a pair that fit, I stick with them for all they're worth.

Apple, how do I hate thee.

Let me count the ways...

Yes!! This is what it was. A thin buffer for that spot where the metal of the headphones comes in contact with the phone resolves this. thank you. iPhone 6s Plus still has this issue, but this hack fixes it. Again the problem comes from the metal of the headphone connection contacts the phone. A thin buffer resolves it. I used a thin piece of rubber User uploaded file

My wife was having this same problem with her iphone 6s which we just got from Gazelle a few days ago. At first I thought the phone was defective, but with a little trouble shooting I figured the problem was with the Apple head set. Our house has a few cats and they have been known to chew on wires, and this is where our problem was. I found the wire is cracked just below the volume controls and I think the head set was shorting out the voice control. I will buy a new head set and reply to this post later to see if it fixes the problem. I realize this is kind of a unique scenario but I posted it to add the possibility of other headset problems due to bad or broken internal wires, if someone is having this problem I would suggest trying a different head set.

I'm glad to know it's not just me, but I must look like a crazy person in the gym swearing at my phone every 2 seconds when the **** voice control pops up. It's beyond irritating and really unacceptable for such an expensive phone. I'm using an iPhone 6s with the latest update. I'm going to try the rubber band fix someone else suggested, but how ridiculous is it that we have to do that? You should be able to disable the voice control when listening to music.
