Thanks for the link, but aw man, I'd have to pay $8 in shipping just to get those to my place in Canada. 😢 And there's no guarantee that they'd solve my issue!
Anyway, I'm suffering from the same problem as the rest of you, just check my post in another thread about this issue. My beloved JLab earphones work properly with every smartphone in my house except for my iPhone 6. Other headphones work fine with the iPhone 6... everything except the JLabs! It's seriously perplexing at this point. The issue started when I updated a free video downloading app and used it for the first time in a long time. After downloading a video, Voice Control kept coming up every time I accidentally shifted my earphones' cable and static sounded. After that, it just kept happening over and over whenever I had my JLab earphones plugged into my iPhone. I used Isopropyl alcohol to clean the phone's audio port and the JLabs' audio jack, but it didn't have any effect on the static. So I switched to using the horrible plastic Apple Earpods because I don't get the static with them. I hate them so much. 😟
Unfortunately, the only other earphones I have with a built-in mic (volume control) are the Apple Earpods, which work 100% with my iPhone 6, obviously. Even a pair of cheap Chinese knockoff Apple earbuds I bought from a shady online stork work with the iPhone, but not my JLabs! Even the horrible built-in mic works. I'm so frustrated right now.
I tried my OEM Samsung earphones with the iPhone 6 (the standard ones that come with Samsung Galaxy phones), and yup, they work, but the built-in mic doesn't work.
However, I noticed something about my non-JLab earphones. None of the other earphones/headphones I tested with the iPhone 6 have a metal base at the jack like the JLab earphones do--they're all plastic there. So I'm convinced that's the problem right there. The metal collar/base/whatever is creating static when it comes into contact with the iPhone's audio port. The other earphones don't have this issue because they've got plastic where the JLabs have metal. I'm going to look to see if I have other earphones or headphones similar to my JLabs and I'll test them with my iPhone and report back with pics, but I don't think I'll figure out anything new.
Fact is, this issue shouldn't even be happening. I have a variety of Samsung devices and they work fine with the JLabs. No static whatsoever. I'm convinced Apple is doing this on purpose, to increase sales for their uncomfortable, overpriced OEM earphones.
