Dymo Labelwriter 450 problem

I have encountered a problem with using this Dymo product of late. I have both a HP Laserwriter and the Dymo printer hooked up. The HP is through a hub while the Dymo is directly hooked in. However now the labelwriter is no longer recognized after a recent update. But the Dymo software was not the problem. For some reason, none of the remaining usb ports seem to work with this Labelwriter. The only one that does is, you guessed, it, the one the HP printer through the hub plugs into. Which means every time I want to use the Labelwriter, I have to disconnect the HP printer and plug in the Dymo printer. Nor will the HP (actually the hub) work in any other usb input. So I am wondering why this is happening. I have heard of USB redirection problems and wonder if this might be the cause and how I can attempt to resolve. The good news is that I can use the Dymo printer. Bad news is that I have to unplug the HP printer to use it!

Using iMac and 10.8.5.

Thanks for this information and it was successful but I am unsure whether it was the reset or an issue with a particular usb cable for ipod/iphone. Here are the details.

I followed the reset instructions by Apple. At first that did not work. So I shut down again, removed all USB devices and rebooted following the Apple guidelines. I then opened up the Apple print & scan utility and first plugged in the Dymo labelwriter. Bingo! Got the green idle light which one wants. Then I replugged in the usb hub that has the HP printer and OWC hard drive. Another green light. The third usb cable though is for connecting the ipod and also the iphone. Neither the ipod or iphone were recognized when either was connected. I looked at the usb hub and connected to one of the empty slots. No dice. But on the very top of the hub is also a plug in. So I connected the usb cable into that slot and bingo, it now works. Both devices can now connect via this cable (although with the iphone I do it wireless for the most part).

At any rate everything looks good right now. Both printers are connected and able to use them.
