The app store update is not working. "Update All" is greyed out. When I tap on individual apps' "Update" button, it just opens the app and does not update it. I've closed App Store and restarted it and I've rebooted my iPhone. This is new. Seems like it just started after updating the App Store, ironically.

Thanks to all for their suggestions. This problem happened to me on my IPAD. I updated to IOS9 today, hoping that would fix the problem, but no.
So I did what one person suggested - I shut off IPAD completely. Then, turned it back on, when to the app store, clicked on "updates' and IMMEDIATELY, hit the Update All button. The Update All button is only available for a split second, but now everything is updating. How stupid and riduculous.
Shame on Apple for not responding to this open question for such a long period of time. It's obviously a common problem.
I doubt this is the fix for all, but I had the same problem, beginning 9/16/15. I opened the app store, and went to update all. Then it went gray. After all the googling, and no help. I said screw it and was going to update to 9.0. (I can't reset settings or anything because I'm jailbroke) So I have to do a full restore. And last minute I update my payment information in Itunes, and as soon as I hit update, the update all button came back.

SAme here. Ipad2 and Iphone 5, both on IOS 7.04. Started 2 days ago.
Try to use a WiFi rather than Cellular Data for Update or just leave the phone connected to WiFi for few hours and monitor.

But with the iPad and iPad mini, with the iPhone its working still fine.

Hi. Same problem encountered. Eventhough i retarted or hard reset my iphone 4s.. nothing happends. even set auto date and time off and put date few years ahead.. no success.
I don't believe that is the real case mr.bwoods because i already have one application that needs to be updated and the update all button is still greyed out
THere are plenty reports of this "bug". This is going into week 2, as far as I know, since reported. Apple is not interested in fixing
YEs exact time it happened to me. Ipad 2 and Iphone 5 with IOS 7.04. unfortunately doesn't look like Apple is doing anything about it.
I have the latest version of IOS, I've tried your suggestions, but they don't work.
I also have this issue. And because of the recent upgrade to iOS 8 I have 52 app updates waiting to download. Ridiculous!
Any progress noticed? Any reaction from Apple?
I logged a ticket with Apple and the response i finally got was to contact APPLECARE. no interest on their part. Basically blew me off.
