Hi,
My new iPhone 6 is in my hand! Trying to transfer everything from my old iPhone 4S using iCloud.
Message on new phone says "Enter the Apple ID password for maverickirlc@hotmail.com". This isn't my Apple ID!! Where is it getting this from?

Where did you buy the phone?
If you're seeing an Apple ID that's not your own, that suggests the phone isn't brand new.

respected company. I am using my iCloud sign-in and password, so it recognises that. When I click on the next, it brings up that message.

Did you buy it from an authorized reseller? What's the name of the company?
I would recommend you return the phone and get an exchange or get your money back and take your business elsewhere.

Nothing shady...I'm in the UK and realised this was a U.S. forum. My mistake. Bought the phone from Mobiles.co.uk, part of the Carphone Warehouse Group...
Actually, this is an international forum. It is the only one hosted by Apple. We are users from all over the globe, and many of us know about issues around the globe or have access to users we know from certain areas, than can deal with questions from user in other countries. I guessing now that you have got the issue sorted out, based on where you purchased it?
I don't see anything on their site that indicates they are an authorized reseller of Apple devices.
They may be a respected/legit company, but the phone you have is not brand new. It needs to be returned.

I know that Car Warehouse is an authorized reseller in the UK, but I'm not sure of the other. Wish that Peter would show up here and we could get information from him. He is in the UK.
I think there is also a subtle difference between an overall Apple reseller and being specifically authorized to sell the iPhone.
A company could be an Apple reseller but not authorized to sell the iPhone along with other products.

Did you receive the iPhone completely sealed etc? It could just be that somebody returned the phone and they sold it to you without checking and resetting it.

The solution is to return the phone and get your money back/exchange it.

I got requested for same apple ID password on setting up new iPhone from T-Mobile today. This typically happens during restore when applications have been purchased with a temporary logon to App Store on apple ID other than the primary apple ID. I don't think it is resulting from old phones all previously owned by maverickirlc@hotmail.com. Will contact t-mobile and post any further insight.
