Problem with iPhoto and iOS8

I had edited my photos on my iPhone which has ios 8 installed in it, but when I imported all these photos on to my mac using iPhoto, I lost all the edits that I had put a lot of effort on. The photos which were imported were without these edits. Why did this happen? Is iOS 8 not supported by iphoto? What do I do to get back the edited photos on my phone?

Thank you léonie. I have enabled Photo Stream and I can see the unedited version of it again on my phone. But the problem is that I had edited around 500 pics and after importing I deleted them from my phone. This really ***** coz now I will have to edit them all over again and it takes so much time and the whole fun of doing it the first time is replaced with anger and frustration. I was able to import just the photos required using iTunes, but the image quality reduced drastically. Apple I am afraid is doing it all wrong these days.

A suggestion - check things before destroying things - not only on computers but generally in life - and when you use bad judgement do not cuss and hess at people trying to help you resolve your error

Never delete anything until you are positive that it is safely where you want it and at least one backup cycle has completed so you have the photos and they are backed up

I am sorry LarryHN, but I did not cuss and hess at people in this discussion. I was frustrated at apple for this problem and I think I am right at doing so. I imported edited pics from my iPhone to my mac and it should have stored with the edited version as it was doing few weeks back. This change happened suddenly and that was the reason for my frustration. It was totally at the shortcomings of the software and not the people in this discussion. I normally do not delete unless I am sure. The blind faith in the apple software did me this time. I will remember in future to not do the same.
