CDDickson:

The last version offered: 7.1.2.

Yes. Installing Yosemite will not remove iDVD. However, just to be safe make a backup of the iDVD folder inside your Home/Library/Application Support folder. That's where all the themes are placed.

Also check in the HD/Library/Application Support folder for an iDVD folder. Some installs put the folder there instead of the folder in your Home folder.

Also as with any upgrade it's wise to have a backup of your entire hard drive before upgrading. As Forrest Gump said: "It happens". 🙂

I tried that fix and it will open but won't work further than that. That method also opens the Terminal app which lists all of the bypasses and commands iMovie is skipping. If you close the Terminal window iMovie closes. The project file it creates is not a package as it normally is but just a folder. It freezes up when you try to edit an audio clip. Then when closed it won't open the project again.

Hi Old Toad,

Thank you for your testing efforts. It's good to know that iDVD still works. I copied your iMovie HD report over to iMovie. It's probably best to continue the discussion there because that is where people will go to seek help. You will be interested to know that at least one other person is reporting success with iMovie HD and Yosemite using the "jboolean" workaround.

Regarding the multiplexing errors see Bengt Wärleby's post in this topic:

Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:

Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.

Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
