My point is that your reasoning behind your comment lacks critical thought and merit. Older versions of "yosemite beta" stating that to download updates from "updates section" as a method of getting closer to official release is impossible...

Irrelevant of your computer experience, your reasoning is wrong.

Its like saying a+x=y and b+z=y is impossible... It certainly is possible...

Arrogance is not a good virtue.

Also my confusion is based on a prompt by apple...

I never once stated i knew more than anybody.

Just found conflicting advice from very clear instructions from Yosemite installer pop-up and from some forum posters. Questioned certain things... however never once said anybody was incorrect. I needed to clear things up in my head and properly define the issues i was having.

Lanny chose to ignore the many complements I gave him on several occasions and focus on the one thing that I questioned of his godly advice, by posting nothing but "you are wrong" (edited afterwards by him, but thats what i responded to).

Also in life try not make definitive comments. Nothing is certain!

Im not going to fight on an internet forum. I appreciate all advice. However I also expect not to come here to be bullied by tech geeks. I have every right to question an individual who neither works for apple and doesnt have more than 30-40 thread participation, on what is actually not advanced computer problems... Its not like this site has a C.V. of who everyone is.

The fact is I had a problem. Sought out advice.. However I had to state my case ( to get varied advice, and feedback based on what my issue was)... I don't know who is qualified to give or not to give accurate advice... Its not like I can see your IT degrees.

You can see in all my forum posts that I am polite, always use up my 'this helped me button' often too soon, and I run out of them... and concede often when I am mistaken.

Thank you. And I am also out.

Seriously, with all due respect, we were all honestly trying to answer your questions, and give you the best advice we could.

Perhaps I read you wrong, and if I did, I apologize.

But it did seem as though you made some assumptions about Lanny (and others who tried to help), to say that his logic was wrong.

Very few of us are "geeks." And we genuinely love to help people seeking solutions.

No one here intended to be a bully. But it did seem a tiny bit as though you were going there.

Anyway, don't judge the boards here by one thread. There's tons of really valuable help here.

So here is the link I found - http://www.imore.com/yosemite-gm-3-or-public-beta-6-and-wondering-how-update-fin al-release which says you don't need to run the full version unless you're picky about bits (raising hand).

So Lanny and Bee - you guys say go to the Yosemite page, click download - download the 5.16GB file, and then run it? Just verifying before I do so..?

I have Public Beta 6 as well - and I have Yosemite downloaded ready to run. Just haven't ran it yet.

Do I need to copy my data (iPhoto library, iTunes library) just in case? It won't delete anything (or shouldn't) but only update, right?

Or, maybe, Marketing and Sales has nothing to do with these boards. It's just other Mac users, helping each other. We don't owe anyone anything. And overall, we're free to give all kinds of advice. If we've experienced the same problem, we'll tell you. If not, we'll try to help you figure out what went amiss with the stuff on your Mac . . .

It's just like making the decision to buy a new dishwasher. I much prefer to read the reviews of actual owners, than whatever the mftr has to say.

The word on the street when the public beta was released was that it would have an easy upgrade path to the final version of 10.10. I am going to wait a couple of days for Apple to catch up after all the new releases and expect us public beta users will see a final upgrade available. The build number to final is so close to the beta 6. I personally don't feel like going through a whole fresh install process. The public beta has been rock solid for me.
