thanks, also to reply to your statement : "You are missing the point. Why go maximize window which is essentially full screen which will override any other open window on your desktop. Full screen allows for quick switching between apps that are "maximized."
When the apps are just maximized vs full screen, you can still see the menu bar, clock, etc. You can also see the dock and notification icons. You can drag and drop between windows, you can have multiple windows open for each app. For example, in Mail if you are in full screen, you cannot view the "activity viewer" window. You can't open an email and then cut and paste something in your email list, you can't alt-tab between open windows, only "desktop windows". If you want to type something to someone over skype or Messages that you are reading on a webpage, you can't have them both on the screen at the same time.. etc.
It's really a matter of choice, and I'm glad they didn't completely remove that. (would have been nice to have it mentioned somewhere though)
