ATV 3 Version 7.0 Home Sharing not woking with Yosemite and iTunes 12

Another issue: After a while, itunes seems to switch into some kind of sleep-mode. The iMac still runs, Screen is on, but ATV cannot find the itunes-library. When I "wake up" itunes by getting the itunes-window active, atv instantaneously finds the library again.

And - but this does not belong here - my time machine backups stop each time after the same amount of data has been transferred.

Worst OS-X update I encountered so far. In recent times there was on occasion trouble with third-party-software. But this time it is all Apple's own stuff that's not working properly anymore.

There is an easier way to resolve this which worked for me after many weeks of trying (since developer preview version 7). On your Mac go into system preferences, select sharing and change the Computer Name. That's all you need to do, then your Library will appear on tour Apple TV

Changing the name of the library in iTunes > Preferences worked for me. None of the other suggestions in this thread made any difference but Vants computer name change made me try the library name change... so thanks Vants, you indirectly solved mine as well 🙂

Yeah! IT really works. But once iTunes drops me again. Restart iTunes helps.

Yes. This worked for me, too, but I had to turn sharing off and on again on iTunes to make it work.

I tried everything else in this thread, a dozen or more times, but this hit the spot. A++ Would do business with again.

Thanks man, this worked. It's embarrassing for Apple that their software has such a stupid Microsoft like glitch in it. I really hope one of the Apple people are paying attention to this thread to get this fixed. Devices working seamlessly is supposedly something that "only Apple can do" so they better hold true to that promise.
