can’t make phone call on my mac from yosemite from contacts

Anyone else not able to make a call from contacts on a mac pro running Yosemite. My iPhone 6 and Yosemite are both setup to make cellular calls and on the same wifi network and both signed in, basically everything that is on apples support site but all calls fail. It tried but fails every time and I’m not sure what else to do. There is no more info on how to make calls and everything tried just fails. I haven’t tried to call from safari or any other source.

I'm having the same issue. I'm on the same wifi network, my iCloud accounts all match up, I'm signed into FaceTime on both devices, I've restarted, and I'm able to receive calls however I cannot make them. When I click on the blue phone (it's not greyed out), the call will start but then it fails. When someone tries to call me I'm able to answer their call just fine.

I have just sorted this out for me. I run Intego AV and firewall and somehow the firewall settings had changed? I have now reset all to default "home" and its all working fine. I have no idea how the firewall settings changed but they did. I am the only person who has access to this mac so it was not someone else playing around. You can test this by turning off the net barrier protection (you still have the mac firewall) and if it works it will be well worth checking your firewall settings. Hope this helps somebody.

I feel your pain. I have a mac pro and can’t use boot camp to load windows 7, only that piece of crap 8 which I won’t do. Can't get handoff to work consistently and of course can’t make or receive phone calls. I get the notification on my desktop and when I try to accept a phone call it hangs up on whoever called. And of course I can’t make any out going calls. Then I have dual screens and sometimes when I boot up it only recognizes one of them. I have to pull the cable out of the pro and put it back in for it to be recognized. Holding the alt key and clicking on “detect display” doesn’t work in the preference display screen. Pulling the plug is the only way I have found to get it to get recognized. Then I have to do the rearranging of the screens. The fun never ends. None of this was an issue with my old mac pro albeit the phone thing wasn’t supported outside of bluetooth 4.0 which the old mac’s didn’t have. I’m not sure if its the new mac pro with the SSD or yosemite. But something is screwed up. I’ve had Apple for almost 20 years and now I get the feeling they are getting likes PC’s.
