wifi keeps dropping since Yosemite upgrade

Since upgrading to Yosemite, my previously-stable (with Mavericks) wifi connection keeps dropping. I have to click the wifi icon and re-select my network every minute or two. I have turned off bluetooth and uninstalled/reinstalled wifi and my networks. I have rebooted multiple times. No luck so far. It appears that others are having similar problems. Any solutions at this point?

I had issues with bluetooth and wifi as well. The second I turned bluetooth off, the wifi signal would get better, but if I turn it on again, I can't access the internet.

I have found a solution regarding the interference between bluetooth and wifi. Copy following command into the terminal, hit enter and type in your password:

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.airport.bt.plist bluetoothCoexMgmt Hybrid

After then, reboot. It worked like a charm for me! Can't tell you the specifics but it switches on blueotooth coexisting mode so it doesn't interfere any longer with wifi.

Let me know if it helped anybody.

I'm a new Mac user so I apologize in advance if I violate protocol.

After a week of bliss in my switch from Windows to Mac, I started getting the wifi dropouts that people are discussing in this thread. They started almost immediately after I watched an excellent introductory video tutorial on YouTube that had me make several changes to my system preferences.

I noticed on one of these occasions that for the first time I was being offered on my Mac to connect to my iPhone 6 Plus Chrome browser.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I simply went to Apple...System Preferences...General. Then I unclicked the box that offered to, "Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices".

My wifi connection is now stable.

I think the problem is the wireless-N.

Unless the router is really close to the laptop (like less than 1 m), the wireless N routers in my workplace and the laptop does not communicate.

Iphone, Ipad, when booted through windows with the same hardware, I don't have this problem. Thus it must be driver related.

I have found somewhere in the support pages of apple, the only solution is to "upgrade" the router, which is not an option, since this is a corporate network.

I welcome any information how to disable wireless-N in my Macbook

I solved my problem.

For me (mid2012 macbook pro 15 retina) it was the handsoff feature.

I turned it off in Settings->General (while turning it off, all ios8 devices and all other macs have to have their bluetooth on)

Now, I am downloading with 3 Mb/s from the same network where moments ago I was not even to load this page fully for several minutes.

I don't know the reason. Is it software? Or maybe the antenna array of Macbook being crammed on the bottom of screen hinge is too much prone to interference when there are too many handsoff devices around? (I have a MacPro + iphone + ipad, two bluetooth keyboards, and two bluetooth mice in "bluetooth range". Just a speculation: maybe with this many things, the older embedded multi frequency antenna design make bluetooth communication bleed into wifi channels? Maybe this is the reason Apple is so silent about it, admitting such a problem will require a costly replacement of probably the whole display unit, since everything tends to be factory bonded together. Also why handsoff keeps on working even when bluetooth is off in the mac? I thought all the communication was via bluetooth. I really don't trust these "software switches" for turning things off)

*edit*: The bluetooth is on at the moment. Turning off bluetooth did not help the problem previously.
