That didn't work for me; however I managed to fix my issue by uninstalling iTunes (using AppZapper) and then reinstalling it manually.

thanks MrGordonian. I downloaded it the oldfashioned way and it installed fine.

seems to be 12.0.1 iTunes now.

I had to blow the entire drive away, re-install from a clone drive, then make a bootable USB drive of Yosmite, and then do a clean install with migration assistant. after 2 days it all now works!! omg, WORST INSTALL PROCESS EVER !!

Thanks Mr.Gordonian. Your suggestion fixed my iTunes update problem as well. I tried update about 5 times. Each time update added it to the list of recent updates but, still nagged to update again. Downloading it from Apple's iTunes page installed correctly and the nag went away.

BTW, I had this same problem but with iMovie. From the App store it wouldn't complete the download and continued to state an update was available. In my case, iMovie is not critical so I just keep trying over a few weeks and after about 15 attempts it worked. So, I'm only posting here because it may be a problem with the App store, not iTunes. Cheers.

CarlosAZ, try deleting iMovie from you mac. Then go back to the App Store and download iMovie again, which might appear with the newest version.

Guys who have this problem with iTunes, this error might be from Apple, and the app doesn't update automatically, so it is necessary to do it manually.

First, go to this link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/,then open and do exactly that the installer says, and your done. Open your iTunes and check the version, and it might show v12.0.1.26, that means that it is updated.

This is my issue as well. I keep trying to download, and it quits before download completes. Now Mac App Store says I have installed 12.0.1 24 times, but there is still the option to download. And I am still at 12.0.0.
