Q: Working Wacom Drivers for Yosemite?

I had this same problem when I upgraded to Mavericks and now it happens again with Yosemite. My old Wacom tablets no longer work. With Mavericks, only one of the legacy drivers would work. Some version in the middle (not the latest). With Yosemite, I can't get anything to work. Either it won't load the preference pane after install or it doesn't see anything connected.

I have two Wacom Tablets:

  • Intuos 2 XD-0608-U
  • Intuos GD-0608-U

Has anyone had any luck with getting an old Wacom to work? As before, Wacom doesn't seem interested in updating their drivers for legacy users. It's a shame because the equipment itself still works great. Any 3rd party alternative drivers out there?

I can't be the only one with this problem. Maybe if we put our brains together on this thread, we can find a solution.

I was able to get an old Wacom Bamboo Fun CTH-661 tablet to work on Yosemite PB after I install the appropriate driver from this page.

Hopefully, the Intuos driver will work for your tablets.

Thanks Dan. But I tried the new ones and the legacy ones (6.2.0w4, 6.1.4, 6.3.9w3, and 6.2.w4). No joy.

Bummer. I don't have any other ideas, but you might check the Wacom Europe Forums.

Thanks Dan. The European forums suggested that the latest driver would work. Despite thinking I'd do this, I wanted to make sure I followed procedure. So, I did an uninstall, installed the latest driver, and restarted my iMac. Still no joy.

I figure I can wait a few days to see if any one has any thoughts on the matter. I may be forced to buy a new tablet and chuck my old ones.

    Thank you for your responses.

You might want to try uninstalling the Wacom drivers again, there are several different files that need to be deleted. As I recall, I had to do it a couple of times to make sure that all the files were deleted.

I deleted the files in these folders:

    /Library/Application Support/Wacom

    /Library/Preferences/Tablet

    /Library/PreferencePanes

    /Library/StartupItems/

    ~/Library/Application Support/Wacom

And I deleted these preference files:

    ~/Library/Preferences/com.wacom.pentablet.prefs

    ~/Library/Preferences/com.wacom.touch.prefs

The names of the folders and files might be a little different for your tablet than mine, but I think you get the idea. After you finish deleting these files, try to reinstall the driver again.

Good luck, I hate to see good hardware not being used because of driver issues.

Thanks for pointing all those out. But, alas, still no joy: "A supported tablet was not found on the system"

I've run into the same thing. The latest Wacom driver won't recognize an Intuos 2 (XD) tablet under Yosemite, and Yosemite won't work well with the older drivers, I can't see the Preferences panel.

    Hi, I have a intuos 3 (A3) Tab. 8 Years old

    No preference pane visible.

    Installed 6.3.9e3. All worked OK.

Did nothing special, no file removal etc. I think the new install

removes the old files..Not an help bt it does work.

    Try after permissions fix.

    MacPro 8Core 2008 & Mac Pro 6Core 2013.

    Cheers

I tried the latest 6.3.9w3 driver on a different machine and it wouldn't recognize the Intuos 2 tablet. Uninstalled everything and loaded 6.2.0w4 again and while I can't access the preferences pane to change the settings, the driver seems to be working with all settings at their defaults. I can live with this for while, anyway.

I am currently having the same issue.

"This version of Wacom preferences isn't compatible with this version of OS X" was the first message that showed up for me while I was doing the install of Yosemite. I went into my System Preferences and clicked on the Wacom preference and it popped up with an error: "Could not load Wacom Prefrences Pane"

So I contacted Wacom.com's Customer Support (unfortunately it was passed their hours of operation) So I will have to wait until the weekend is over to hear back from them.I am assuming a driver/patch will be released to correct these issues. Yosemite is quite new, Wacom just has to hear whats happening and hopefully create a fix.

    I have joy!!!!

Both of my Wacoms are now working. 6.3 (the newest) got some action, but it acted like your screen was 2" x 2". Horrible. I did as HWilliam suggested and tried one version back (6.2.). I didn't test it properly. My first step was to see if it would load in the preferences panel. When it wouldn't I assumed it wouldn't work, but it did.

So, my suggestion is first uninstall your current driver throughly and then install 6.2. It will be visible in the System Preferences, but if you click on it will tell you can't load it. But, that didn't matter. I fired up Illustrator and grabbed a pressure sensitive brush and it worked!

Obviously, if you have special tweaking you are SOL. But, this should let us limp by until an update!

    Thank you everyone!

I contacted Wacom yesterday and here is my reply.  Hope this helps everyone.

Thank you for contacting Wacom Customer Care. Please do clean install of the latest driver by following the steps below:

Open your Applications folder and locate any Tablet or Wacom Tablet folders you have

Use the Utility in each of these folders and click ‘Remove’ under ‘Tablet Software’

Once the software is removed, restart the computer

Once this is complete, download and install the latest 6.39 driver from:

    Greetings,

This doesn't work for me. "A supported tablet was not found on the system." dialog on the preference pane. The table only scale to about 40% of the active screen area (I'm using 2 monitors).
