Working Wacom Drivers for Yosemite?

I had this same problem when I upgraded to Mavericks and now it happens again with Yosemite. My old Wacom tablets no longer work. With Mavericks, only one of the legacy drivers would work. Some version in the middle (not the latest). With Yosemite, I can't get anything to work. Either it won't load the preference pane after install or it doesn't see anything connected.

I have two Wacom Tablets:

  • Intuos 2 XD-0608-U
  • Intuos GD-0608-U

Has anyone had any luck with getting an old Wacom to work? As before, Wacom doesn't seem interested in updating their drivers for legacy users. It's a shame because the equipment itself still works great. Any 3rd party alternative drivers out there?

I can't be the only one with this problem. Maybe if we put our brains together on this thread, we can find a solution.

For the record, I'm pretty sure the issue of it not noticing when I pick up the pen is solved by this workaround plugin. (Mac only)

While debugging, I tried out a Monoprice (UC-Logic) tablet. It was having the same problem with lifting the pen. That workaround plugin fixed it.

Sadly, though, once I used the Monooprice tablet driver, I could no longer get my Intuos GD to work at all any more, no matter how I installed the drivers, even after uninstalling the Monoprice tablet drivers. Very sad! 😟

Load the older driver and the tablet will work as previously mentioned.

To be able to set the preferences, simply make a back up of the preferences from a working version in your previous operating system (if you still have a back up of your older OS!) App > Wacom Tablet > Wacom Tablet Utility

Then simply use the Restore facility in the same Wacom Utility on your Yosemite OS. All previous settings are restored. You will not be able to make the changes on Yosemite but you can still make adjustments on a backed up 10.9 version and import them in to your 10.10.

Wacom said the intuos 2 is too old to be compatible with the newer OS. I believe Wacom could easily create a working preference pane but choose not to in order to phase out older generations.

hope this helps

Could someone upload the usable preference files? I just migrated to a 5K imac and no longer have the old preference files. I used a Intuo 2 as well and served me well for over 10 years. I see no point in wasting $500 in getting a new one! I don't think I will buy another Wacom product again if they do not fix this. BTW any suggestion for a comparable product? I use it primary for photoshop work. Thank you!
