How to get widgets in OS X notification center?

I just downloaded Yosemite and am trying to set up my notification center. When I click the Edit button in the Today view, the only item available is Social. Where are all the widgets that are supposed to come preinstalled with Yosemite?

When you open the Notification Center you will see another icon in the bottom right corner. That opens the Preferences. You may find that you have turned off the other preinstalled notifications. If that is not the case click the grid icon at the top of the window and then select the Extensions preferences and check there that the "Today" items are active.

Yes, I did that...and now they are working...besides 'social.'

Mac HD>System>Library>Frameworks>NotificationCenter.framework>PlugIns> Then choose your widgets that are listed. I just opened them there (they open in a separate window) and hit the green button and they are now in my notification sidebar.

Cool beans, but hopefully this bug is fixed my apple as well.

I just upgraded to Yosemite yesterday. I downloaded 2 widget apps. One was free ("Countdowns"), and went right into the Notifications Center with no problem. The other one cost $1.99 ("Active Countdowns") and did not go into the Notifications center. Instead, it is working from my dock. I can't get it to go into the Notifications Center. I tried dragging the app into the folder mentioned above, but it didn't work - can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

(Folder = Mac HD>System>Library>Frameworks>NotificationCenter.framework>PlugIns>

Examining com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist showed that the names of the widgets that were missing from Notifications were also missing from that plist.

Removing that plist from /Users/username/Library/Preferences (obviously substituting my username), followed by logout and login, did indeed restore the missing widgets (they now appear in that plist).

To my great surprise, Notifications were still set up pretty much as they were—I expected them to be reset to default, but they were not. So apparently that plist doesn't determine what shows or in what order; instead, it determines what widgets are available to be shown or not shown. Cheers,
