Share button in Yosemite Safari not working, showing "No Service"

User uploaded file

After upgrading to Yosemite, the share button in Safari does not show any options. It shows only a "No Service" message. Has any one else have such a problem? Do you have any suggestions? It is a personal mac book pro at home.

Same problem...followed Gubbz advice and the those plugins now seem to work.

I was getting the error below in Console for all the plugins but now just for these 4.

My reboot solution lasted 24 hours. So when I have my return call with Apple tech on Monday about this issue I will tell them the following.

• Since all widgets and services appeared in my Guest user, I rebooted and discovered that the missing widgets appeared in Notification Center for my user. Also, the share button no longer said "No Service". Success!

• A little under 24 hours later I went to remove a widget and watched all the widgets I hadn't installed yet disappear in front of me from the widget list in the Notification Center. The Weather and Social widgets also disappeared from Today. They only appear if I select "Edit", but There is a gray box on the gray Notification Center that shows where they used to be. They may even be there, but hidden. The widget I removed disappeared as well. Sharing services also disappeared. Now back to "No Service".

• Opening up Activity Monitor, I force quit Notification Center. My deleted widget returned, but not the other uninstalled Apple widgets. The installed Apple widgets of Social & Weather also did not return to the Today panel.

• Following a tip online, I discovered the Widget Simulator. I ran the Weather widget in it. Weather returned to my Today panel. There is no Social widget in the

/System/Library/Frameworks/NotificationCenter.framework/PlugIns/ folder, so I can't do the same trick for it. Sharing still says "No Service". This trick seems to work for me only if I force quit Notification Center.

• My only option is to reboot again, but this is not an optimal solution. I have a web server running as well as a ZNC server. Neither service auto runs anymore since upgrading to Yosemite. None of my launchd agents seem to be running, which could either be related to this problem, or be another bug entirely.

I'll post an update here. We're on the cutting edge on this so I am not expecting a lot of help. When I called Apple for help on Friday, the guy who first helped me had only installed Yosemite on his system 20 minutes before I called. I was his first Yosemite trouble call. He escalated me to a different tech who didn't have Yosemite installed yet. Nice guys, but :roll eyes:. I am very curious to know if they Widget Simulator solution works between reboots.

Something was clipped from my entry. Also, I need to clarify something. Where it says "They only appear if I select "Edit", but There is a gray box on the gray Notification Center that shows where they used to be." it should read instead, "They only appear if I select "Edit", but Social now says no social accounts again. There is a gray box on the gray Notification Center Items list that shows where the previous uninstalled widgets used to be."

I think I may have come across a fix for the entire missing extensions/mis-configured plug-in issue (which includes the "no service" for the share button in Safari, the missing items in notification center, and the inability to use markup in mMail). Based on reading that others were able to create a new user account in which these issues did not occur, I decided to try creating a new user myself as a diagnostic step. In the process I connected the new user to my existing iCloud account. Checking System Preferences/Extensions in the new user account showed the same missing extensions. I then created a new user without connecting to an iCloud account. That new user appeared to be free of the missing extension/mis-configured plug-in issue.

It appears that there is a bug in Yosemite that creates this issue when either a new or existing user is linked to an existing iCloud account during the user setup process. I went into System Preferences/iCloud and unselected all options other than "iCloud Drive". I then restarted the computer, and then went back into System Preferences/iCloud and reselected all the options that I previously had checked. Since then I've done several restarts and had no more issues. All-All third party extensions; Actions-Markup; Share Menu-Add to Reading List and 10 more...; and Today-Calendars, Reminders, Stocks, Weather, all appear in the System Preferences/Extensions pane after each restart.

One thing still isn't working right. Changes made to the System Preferences/Notifications pane seem to have no effect, and do not survive restarts. Despite having "Banners," "Show Notifications on Lock Screen," "Show message preview when unlocked," "Show in Notification Center: 5 Recent Items," "Badge app icon," and "Play sound for notifications" all selected, I am getting no notifications of emails anywhere other than in the Mail app itself.

I was on for ages in Chat with Apple support - aside from the 'Services' issue, I also have no email notifications. Under the 'today' tab, I see 'No Social Accounts' and no weather, email or anything else. However, notifications popped up if I had my mail client open - otherwise, nothing. The Apple guy I spoke to said that is the case - you must leave the mail app running all the time if you want to see email notifications. Doesn't seem quite right, to me, but I get the impression this has taken Apple by surprise and nobody knows what to do about it yet. I was assured the issue has been raised with their engineers.

I allowed them a screen view of my iMac, and we went through all the system extensions, issues etc. The case is ongoing, but all I got by way of a solution was to boot up in Safe Mode and test the issue there, then call back.

For the record, I have been chatting to Apple twice about this. Followed all their advice - deleted preferences, checked system files with them. No fix worked. Only way to get this working (for me, anyway) is to create a New User not linked to iCloud.

Issues:

- Share Button in Safari only shows 'No Services'. Missing are all Social Functions, Reading Lists, Bookmark function.

- Finder Services Tab shows 'No Services Apply'

- Notification Centre only shows Calendar Events. No weather, stocks, Social etc.

Really think this needs an urgent patch. It's just broken.
