Pages 5.5 in Yosemite: Mail Merge question. In the what's new list, 5.5 claims support for Applescript Mail Merge. I thought for one moment that that the simple drag and drop functionality of Pages 09 had been restored, alas not the case. On a daily basis I use a template involving the physical addresses from my contacts .. . . which I must cut & paste on to the Pages document. Can somebody explain how I can do this? It used to be so simple, I am prepared to invest a little time in trying to figure out an applescript solution. . . . but where to start? hoping someone can point me in the right direction. many thanks
The simple solution is to use Pages '09, but something tells me you are not going to do that.

There is no Mail Merge in Pages v5.5. It has to be implemented by someone reasonably adept at AppleScript coding. Here is an example of Mail Merge using AppleScript for Pages. There is no assurance that this will work with Pages v5.5 on Yosemite. Toss it into /Applications/Utilities/Script Editor and see what happens.
The simple solution, Pages '09, doesn't work. Click Edit > Mail Merge and this is what I get. The dropdown for "no entries in Contacts" has not other entries. Word is probably the only solution without programming in Apple scripts. Guidance for that can not be found in Pages Help. (No surprise there.)
I'll give it a try. Thanks.
I had no problem in Mavericks although others reported what you did.
I think it had to do with the fact I migrated my AddressBook to Contacts, so it works for me.

The latest version of Pages has added AppleScript support for replacing text placeholders. This support is used by the Pages Data Merge application to enable Mail merge and other mutli-file publishing tasks. The application is free available here: http://iworkautomation.com/pages/script-tags-data-merge.html
Thanks! I'll give this a shot before I do the Apple Scripts bit. That seems a bit daunting.
Bingo! Thank you. One would think Help would help. One would think.

I tried this, but it seems that the mail merge function is broken even in Pages 4.3 now, if you are using Yosemite. AGGGHHHH!
Here are the links for performing Mail merges with Pages 5.5:
Using AppleScript and a Contacts group:

USING NUMBERS OR OTHER SPREADSHEET DATA:

I don't know what has happened to Apple, but the client, is no longer listened too. .
I have the same problem, and I have exasperated every thing I can think of to get help. The keep saying just go back to Pages 9. The new pages was like one of the old original word processors. The talk about seamless, but it doesn't even know contact file exist. And the same company produced both.
As I said it is working for me, but I migrated, so I actually have Address Book on my Mac instead of Contacts.
Yosemite seems to stuff up a lot of things but Apple has kept previous installations in place.
