Where Does Yosemite Download To?

I spent 10+ hours downloading it yesterday for my Macbook. I'm not trying to go through all that again for my iMac, I just want to spend 2 minutes copying the upgrade file to my iMac and start installing. Where would I find this file/s?

If you haven't installed yet: Open up the Applications folder. You'll see the Icon with the X and text that says "install OS X Yosemite.App".

Just drag and drop that Icon into the USB sick or portable media you want to save a copy to, (represents the whole downloaded .dmg file), and it will save a installable copy to the media you chose. It will also leave a installable copy in the Applications folder.

It is not Apple's mistake, this has been the procedure since the release of Lion, Mac OS X 10.7.

The user has been advised many times on here that the wise thing to do is, go to System Preferences > App Store and make sure Install App updates and Install OS X updates are NOT checked. That way the installer will not initiate until you tell it to do so.

After the Install OS X finishes downloading, go to your Finder > Applications folder and make a copy of Install Mac OS X in a safe place, such as your Documents folder. That way you will be able to keep a copy after the installer completes and self-erases.
