No sound on Instagram videos

I use an iPhone 5 and the sound for videos on my Instagram app isn't working. i have tried it on my 4S and also on my iPad and volume on both of those works fine. The switch at the side is on, my phone isn't on silent however I have just gone into instagram and played a video and if you switch to silent and then straight back on to 'on' straight away the sound then works on the video. If you go to replay the video I get no sound again. Surely this isn't right. Has anybody else experienced this? i have deleted the app and reinstalled, switched off using the home button and the sleep button and nothing, no volume on my Instagram videos at all. Could anybody suggest anything that I could maybe try?

i have discovered that in the update some of your settings may have been changed. in the app go to your profile and press on the setting option at the top right corner. scroll down to the video settings and select the the tab labeled "sound." be sure that you have selected "when ringer is on." this should solve your issue.

Yes ask instagram what the issue is or look at their support site or see if there is an update.

I am having the same issue but I have an iPod. iPod's do not contain that silent switch so it couldn't possibly be that. It most probably has something to do with the way instagram is running on iOS 8. I recommend complaining to instagram, not apple.

Had the same issue...

Turned out I had watched (and listened to...) some Instagram videos with headphones plugged in my iPhone5 and later, when I watched more videos on Instagram without headphones, there wasn't any sound. I plugged my headphones back in and there was sound... So I started playing a video with headphones plugged in, plugged them out while the video was playing, enabled the sound to the video again, and it came back...
